Steam Link now available on Linux
The Steam Link app is now available for 64-bit x86 Linux systems. A wired network is strongly recommended.

You can get it here from Flathub:
https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.valvesoftware.SteamLink
Make sure you follow the setup guide on that page before you install, if you have never used flatpak before.

Special thanks to Collabora[www.collabora.com], for helping make this possible.

Wait it's only just now for Linux? I assumed it had been on Linux this whole time?

The full Steam client app has had streaming/remote play support on Linux for a while, this is just the thin Steam Link app which is a smaller install and doesn't have the library/friends list/downloads/etc. It also allows streaming without signing into an account, so you can use the new "Remote Play with a friend who doesn't have a Steam account" feature.

Any thoughts on an ARM64 (or plain old ARM) version? To my knowledge the Raspberry Pi links against some Broadcom specific stuff, doesn't it?

Steam Link uses a Qt patch for controller events:

Is there a secret, which I dunno see?
I downloaded this patch an compiled qt-everywhere. Still not working. Maybe I do something wrong. What are the steps to patch and use qt-everywhere?

Awesome that this is available for such a common arch finally. I just wish folks would use more common package mangers - deb/rpm packages or snap distribution would be nice. Never even heard of flatpak, and it sounds like yet more fragmentation to me; snap is annoying enough with how it globs onto things.
