Tales of zestiria, one of the worst tales of ?
I really need to know, because i read everywhere this game is bad and an insult to the series, a game pretty empty in term of map, etc etc.

Tales of symphonia, phantasia, abyss are my favorites, so this game is good or not ?

This game will be great. It's like final Fantasy. Final Fantasy isnt bad because it improved. It is just something new. Since you get ToS for free while we reach reward 3 it is WAY worth it !

I have yet to play a bad Tales game. And that includes Graces, which was bashed as terrible when it came out, but turned out to have a great story and even better gameplay. It just wasn't a story most people cared for. Now when people talk about it, they do admit the battle system was great.

Honestly, half of what you're hearing is sour grapes because the Japanese market was promised things that weren't in the game. I can tell you it will be better than most of the other JRPGs out there, including most of the FF games.

well xilla 2s map was just a rehash of the first game but the story imo was probably the best one in the tales series. so even if it has a boring world they will probably deliver on the story.

The Japanese market wasn't really promised things that weren't in the game though. People saw a trailer for the game and immediatly jumped to the conclusion that alisha was the main heroine of the game. While Namco never said she was the japanese fandom was still salty as ♥♥♥♥ and review bombed any site they could find saying it's the worst game ever. Sure there are some problems with the game(camera is a bit wonky in closed spaces) and the dlc maybe but since we are getting the dlc's with the game that pretty much rules out the dlc problem japanese people had. And you never know they might've fixed the camera issues for the ps4/pc version. All thats left is the salty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of the japanese crowd and those that jumped onto the hate train.

I think that what the worst or best Tales games are kind of subjective. Personally I think that, while Tales of Zestiria has a few problem, it's a great game.

Never played any bad tales of series.

I have played Tales of symphonia, Tales of Symphonia dawn of the new world, tales of graces, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Vesperia. None of them were bad games. Although Xillia 2 I didn't enjoy as much because of the recycled assets and Tales of graces had a lot of back tracking, the interesting story made up for any flaws.

People only hate it because the character that was advertised to be the female protagonist leaves the party after the first chapter and never returns. Thus, why many people were furious when it came out. And the reason why the game has a 1.5/5 star rating on amazon.jp

A lot of whiny, entitled and honestly confused people made a fuss about some rather minor issues; ones that have little to no bearing on the game itself. Don't let the outspoken minority deter you. I fully expect the game to be at least average-Tales quality, which still puts it well above the average RPG.

According to Media Create, Zestiria topped the Japanese sales charts upon release, selling 340,891 units, beating The Legend of Legacy for the Nintendo 3DS and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for Wii U.[102] A week after release, Bandai Namco announced that the game had sold over 400,000 units.[90] At the 2014 Japan Game Awards after that year's Tokyo Game Show, Zestiria was among the games that won the "Future Division" award.[103] The game also received the Platinum award from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu upon release.[104]

The story and characters were praised by Famitsu and fellow gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation: Famitsu called the former "epic" and the latter "charming".[99][100] Dengeki generally referred to Zestiria as the Tales series' "finest masterpiece".[100] Erren Van Duine, writing for PlayStation Lifestyle, called the characters "likable" and praised the first half of the story, but felt that the narrative "fell flat" during the second half.[101]

Famitsu positively noted a noticeable "evolution" in the interaction between battles and navigation, described the battles as exciting and found the Armitization feature worked smoothly. The main point of criticism was the environmental interaction, which grew tiresome once the player grew used to all the skills.[99] Van Duine said that, while not perfect, the battle transition "[provided] a greater sense of environment rather than shifting to an instanced zone.", while Dengeki PlayStation positively noted smooth gameplay, "seamless" transition from navigation to battle, and the ability to retry battles after being defeated.[100][101] A common issue raised by the reviewers was the camera behavior, which was generally described as wayward or distracting.[99][100][101]

Some other issues were raised, with Famitsu citing obscure tutorials as one of the game's weak points.[99] Van Duine, while praising the art style, noted multiple dips in frame rate and uneven graphics quality, showing that the hardware was having trouble coping with the game.[101]

Controversy

There was a large degree of negative player feedback after release concerning the handling of playable characters, in particular the fact that Alisha was not playable through most of the game despite her prominent presence in early promotional material.[7][8] It was further inflamed by the announcement of Alisha After Episode, with many players saying that Alisha's absence from the second half of the main game was an excuse to monetize the character.[8] During an appearance at the Taipei Game Show, Baba said that the appearance of characters in promotional material reflected their order of appearance in the game rather than their importance or prominence in the game. He also stated that the story did not have a specific heroine, leaving players the freedom to choose one for themselves.[7] Later, Baba elaborated to Famitsu that the material sent to publications did not specifically refer to Alisha as the game's heroine, although the development team for mobile spin-off Tales of Asteria including information describing Alisha as Zestiria‍ 's heroine, much to Baba's regret. He further stated that Alisha's story role is important despite her early departure, and that the ability for Rosé to wear Alisha's DLC costumes was kept quiet to avoid spoiling the story.[63] Bandai Namco are keeping the situation in mind while considering whether to release Alisha After Episode with the main game or as a standalone product in the west.

And they've decided to include it, right? With the way that people like to whine over here, that was probably a good move.

Agreed, the less controversy around the game the better the release will be for them. Though we will still have the 2-4 weeks of people going I can't play the game ♥♥♥♥ bandai namco I want my money back now threads.

Yes, it is probably worst tales game. Let me explain why it is to you.

1. Alisha quitting isn't the true problem. True problem (In which makes people want Alisha) is her replacement - Roze. In which introduced as 'Pure and Innocent' Assassin's group leader. See the dissonance? You will see those a lot during the storyline. Problem with Roze is because game establish the concept that killing 'bad people' to solve the problem is good thing, and only Roze dirties her hand, but somehow remains clean for random reason, there isn't any major character development since Roze just solves every personal problem thrown at the party, as all other party member (Excluding main protagonist) tells protagonist what to do, in which he listens. Earning him the title 'Really? Maybe? Sure!' from Japanese fandom.

2. Actual combat system is worse than Graces. You don't get Camera control, and move pool is reduced. Both issue I'm actually fine with.

3. You will have to grind. A lot. Skill system is tied to equipment in this game.

4. One of the reason why Japanese people are so sour about Alisha quitting after two battle is because they sold DLC Costume and Alisha only Preorder Mythic Artes.

5. Extra DLC, in which released for 12.99$ is very short (Abour 3 hours max) in repetitve map, in which contains story about Roze and other main character bullys Alisha and Alisha must earn the favor of people being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to her. In which they tries to put some cover up reason why Roze does this, but apparently no one is convinced. He also said that character that Roze killed randomly appears out of nowhere during DLC.

Actual game isn't bad as many Japanese players claims to be. But I don't think it worth the current price tag.
