Zestiria or Berseria?

I've never really gotten into any games like the Tales before so I wanted to try one out to see how I like it which one would you guys suggest? I normally play rpgs like Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher, etc. Any suggestions would be great thanks!

Berseria is the better game, because it has improved from some of the flaws found in Zestiria.
But you might want to play both since both of these two Tales games takes place in the same world but with a 1000 years of difference. It is okay to play whichever game in order since both have standalone stories and characters, but I would recommend to play the Prequel first, which is Tales of Berseria, which takes 1000 years before Zestiria.

Tales of Zestiria takes place after Berseria. While Berseria is an amazing game and def better than Zestiria I think you should experience both. That being said I think playing Zestiria first is the best option. It's a cheap game to pick up these days and it is good for the money. Also because playing Berseria after and seeing everything that ties in together will make you appreicate Zestiria that much more.

If you try Berseria first you prob wont like Zestiria that much. Berserisa just ♥♥♥♥♥ on Zestiria

Yep. Zestiria is just awful in comparison to Berseria. Character Models look off and the voice actors are annoying.

Zestiria is... I hate calling it garbage, but compared to Berseria, it is. Sorey tries his best to be likable, but after Velvet... God I hate him.

I find Zestiria's cast quite enjoyable and fun even though especially the main character is kind of bland. It is some of the rare case which I love the whole cast without really disliking any of them. But I do admit that I feel that Rose wasn't a real necessary character...

The music of Zestiria is just awesome compared to Berseria though lol. But you sure have to play them both, they all have their good side.

From 2013 to mid 2014, before Rose was even announced, there were some famitsu scans of Alisha and Dezel together in the party, so I think it's possible that they tried to force Rose in and possibly make some rather drastic changes to the story rather late in the development of the game.

It's actually funny that noone here mentions anything about Berseria is more suitable for gameplay with a controller. While Zesteria plays perfectly fine with a mouse and keyboard, Berseria does not and makes a very bad time with different attacks. (Which is the reason I refunded Berseria.)

There is a demo version for Berseria, so try that out before you touch either game.

I didn't like Velvet that much... I watched videos of skits around youtube after I refunded, she rather feels like a emo filled angry protagonist in a way.

But then there is Sorey and Rose in Zesteria, both incredibly annoying characters in a way.

Everyone has their own opinion and priorities. I don't disrespect them.

She has a very good reason to have that personality and she gets a decent amount of development in the game.

Tales of the abyss is the best one, period. I hated zestiria so much, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ story, bad characters, especially Rose. So annoying... I regret buying this game
