No Ad Boost!?

As much as ads are a pain, I really miss being able to have double profits for four hours like in the mobile version.
How come there is no ad boost in the Steam version? How do the game makers make money of cheap skates that don't buy gold?

They don't make money off of free players/cheapskates, which is likely part of why they expanded to the app markets :P I feel like there must be some Steam regulation stating no adveritsements in games available on Steam.. I've never seen any game on here with advertisements, but I could be wrong. There's no other reason I can think of why they wouldn't put it in this version.

They don't. It's a freemium game where people play and have fun. I imagine they get some joy from people liking their game, but probably even more if people bought gold. There will always be someone who will buy gold, either due to frustration or wanting to support the devs.

Only thing I can say is they rely on word of mouth. YOU may not buy gold, but you may tell a friend about the game, they'll play and THEY might buy gold.

Doubt valve wants ads in games or everyone is gonna start releasing ads on every game released. I would rather use my credit card to increase my boost for a week or months

I normally play by the rule of, if i put in more than 20 hours into a free game I will chip in a good $10.... and if it still holds my attention past that I will put in another 10 or 20.... not so much for in game progression though it often helps, but mostly to say "thanks" to the dev team

When I launch the game it currently shows me a "Please Stand By" screen with a green loading bar and the message: "Ads are the lifeblood of capitalism". It's broken though, nothing ever loads and I cannot click the X at the top right to close it.

Reminds me on Tripwire/KillingFloor. idk how much I have seen this disgusting Rising Storm trailer in game and there was no effect for the game at all.
