Anyone else game freezes every time you launch the game?

yep...I've successfully connected to one server though. Ever since all tries have failed and I have to restart the PC because I can't even go to the task manager.
The update to support the Aquatica DLC broke a lot of things in the game, including causing excessively long load times which make it appear that the game has frozen. It is still loading, and will eventually let you play, but the duration of the freeze can be a very long time depending on your hardware...some have reported 45 minutes to an hour.

If you want to play without the freezing, try switching to the PreAquatica Beta version. That loads a version of the game from before the Aquatica update, so it should run as fast as it used to before Aquatica dropped. Just be aware that if you do switch, you won't be able to play the Aquatica map, you won't be able to join servers which run the latest update, and if you opened a single player game in the latest update you may need to tinker with it a little to make it work on the Beta version.

However on the plus side, as well as freezing up less, the Beta supports mods (which the latest version breaks), there are servers to join on the Beta version and all other DLC maps will still be playable.

(Steam has redesigned the Betas tab since that picture was made, if you have any issues check the picture comments for an updated step 3 and 4.)
I don't know what I did. I just built a new rig and installed a bunch of games. So I've been tweaking a lot of settings. One thing I noticed now is that when I launch the game, the mouse pointer is the Windows mouse pointer in-game, instead of the one that matches the GUI. I'm freezing every time now and have to completely restart PC.

Edit: Ok I found the problem. Even though I have Windows Firewall and Virus Protection completely turned off, and have added the battleeye.exe exceptions and permissions, I can't join any servers with Battleeye because Windows 11 is still blocking it. WTF Microsoft!? I can play Planetside 2 though, which also requires it. So I don't get it...

It is installed in the Ark directory, but it keeps trying to reinstall every time I try to join a server with it enabled.

yeah, the aquatica dlc updates broke the game
when the main menu oppens immediately open a Procedural ARK and wait for it to load then you can leave the Procedural ark and play it normally
Wow what an absolute waste of time. Wait possibly for an hour to start a game I've just purchased. Are you f ing high?

Yeah, when they pushed the Aquatica update made by Sudio Sirens, it broke the game and majority of mods.

Some mods were repaired so they would also work with the new version 361.xx but they never fixed the load time. Like you saw, it can take anywhere from 15 minutes and up to 1 hour for some.
The only way to get fast load time and have pretty much all the mods working is to install the Pre-Aquatica version 358.xx
