Yeah, sure. The explanation is either that humanity is becoming more stupid and therefore explaning the sudden influx of positive third-world unintelligible reviews OR wildcard straight up just bought positive, unintelligible reviews from some dubious company in the third world... What a mystery :D
More Wildcard mysteries along the lines of ''wtf is Atlas?''
or ''please preorder a game you havn't seen a single screenshot of''
and finally ''no, for real, wtf is Atlas? Wtf is that? A mod? Is it just a straight up mod they tried to sell as real game?''...
Fake review or not, anyone reviewing a game after 5 hours is a clown and there are plenty of legit people that do that across all games.
In this instance, I had a quick look and couldn't find the reviews you mentioned however I saw plenty of idiots with thousands of hours, 50+ hours last 2 weeks and neg review which is pretty common in this community and the most amusing thing I find.
Actually, almost every person that wrote a neg review in the last 2 weeks with more than 1k hours has recently played this game. Hilarious. Talk is cheap, walk the walk.
90% of them from people with 5-6 or less
Funny new "positive" reviews:
"I have no idea what game this is" from "Angel" - 0.2h in game LoL
Since Steam Awards been introduced people posting joke reviews without basically playing the game at all and are just fishing for awards. Is a common sight.
The more "popular" the game is at the time the worse it gets.
It's possible to really like certain elements of a product, while simultaneously admitting that other elements of said product are severely flawed almost to the point of being broken, and also to be disappointed in the business practices of the company behind the product.
You are describing someone with either a low EQ "they did something I don't like, throw my dollies out the pram" or someone with no balls "I hate this game, I'm going to tell everyone else I hate it but I'm going to still play it like a full time job"
The best way to protest against a game is to stop playing it. No one cares about how much you cry on forums, they care about active player count.
Go look at the steam charts, no dip in player counts since ASA announcement. As I said, talk is cheap.
However despite my almost 7k hours in Ark, I do not honestly feel I can recommend it to people. Yes, it does have a few elements in it which are extremely fun and keep me coming back for more. But it is also extremely buggy, and has almost caused me to rage-quit because of these bugs on multiple occasions.
So when I speak about the game to others, I give them a realistic impression of what to expect. I inform them that it can be very good, but also let them know that they will encounter irritating problems and issues which should not exist in a fully released game, so they must evaluate it carefully, do their own research, and decide for themselves whether they think it is worth the hassle to try and find entertainment in it.
And when the devs make decisions I feel are wrong, I speak up and explain my thinking on the matter, partly in an attempt to open up some dialogue with said devs (I have been trying to do this ever since the Scorched Earth debacle and the longrunning TruSky memory leak issue, check my post history if you wish to read those), and partly to inform other gamers who may be interested in the game, so they can make a more balanced choice. Sadly on the first point the devs no longer respond here on this board, but I hope they may still occasionally read. And if I can assist other users in some way, that is always a good thing, whatever the decision they make in the end.
Personally, I very much value this fan feedback when I am looking into other games which I might want to buy, as it allows me to gauge overall satisfaction with the product, and may inform me as to some important details about the devs or the franchise which I was not aware of and have to research more thoroughly. So if I can do that for others in games which I know something about, I am pleased to be of aid.
Side note though: I do agree with you that any feedback or complaints can and should be made in a respectful, polite manner. Shouting, hurling childish insults and curses have no place in dignified conversation, and everyone should treat each other with a degree of respect regardless of personal opinion.
Almost 20% of the reviews over all time come from players <10 hours and most of them are positive but low to 0 quality. Seems not to be new or from wildcard bought at all.
It's just what it always was, 1 quality review is more worth as 10k bad quality reviews.
Like it is for bugreports or detail balance feedback.
Steam should remove obvious nonsense reivews.
You are exactly the person I am talking about, last played 18th April, "I could not recommend it to people" LMFAO
That's exactly why ppl should take his review seriously. If someone that is passionate about a game says it's not worth it, doesn't mean it automatically bad, but something is not right (in this case we all know it's because the ASA ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)
I have 700 hours and can't remember last time I've played, and my review doesn't mean shot cause I barely remember the game. But I'll just throw it out there just to lower it's ratings and hope they don't sell shot
Epic gave out free copies of this game repeatedly. A lot of the epic players will end up on steam forums just because they don't know any different. Steam has also given out free copies.
So there are tons of people that have the game in their library, and may never have played it.
All the negative news about the game is probably making people want to try it out now, see what all the complaining is about.
They didn't pay anything for it, so they might not assign it much worth mentally. They'll play the game and write reviews after a couple hours. It's a throwaway thing to them.
saying stuff like "Best game ever" "So much Freedom" and just like very generic sounding stuff
i think this all is a bit "Sus" to say the least
