Some time ago when Lost island came out Dinopithecus started spawning on Valguero because they messed up something with the spawns.
It could be something like that , or a mod or something.
Also could be something with overspawns , this can mess the game up too , if you have like x10 spawns etc wierd stuff starts happening (like karkinos'es in drake trench)
But otherwise no idea, ark moment i guess.
And i didn't manipulate or even knew how to manipulate creature spawns yet.
Cause they are not meant to spawn there unless they changed something , im not sure I have not played in a few months.
That screenshot was from March and that's when i started that map for first time so there were no xmas events? Since then i wiped that throwaway char's single player data.
That's super weird xD
WC have missed things in updates in the past, like the example Gwyn mentioned about deinopithicus, or that time when the wolves in the triple-level artifact cave on Extinction were able to be tamed. And I have a screenshot from shortly after the release of Extinction, showing Ragnarok's rivers had turned a red colour - presumably they used some of the textures which WC used for the red rivers in the forbidden zone, but the devs adjusted their colouration so it had a knock-on effect for Rag.
And of course, mods can cause all kinds of odd things to happen, like making creatures pop up in places they wouldn't normally appear.
But I've never heard of an instance where adjusting spawn rates would make different creatures appear where they wouldn't normally. I believe karkinos appearing in the rock drake trench is an intentional change from WC a while back, and it will happen on default spawn rates not just adjusted ones. The only time I've heard of spawn rates changing spawning directly is in single player mode, where if you reduce the overall dino spawn, it can lead to rare creatures like gigas and quetzals not appearing on the map at all. But that is creatures refusing to spawn, not new ones being added which wouldn't normally be there.
