Dino for maximum Meat Yield?
Use Sabretooth to get lots of hide, use your own pick to get lots of meat - is there a dino that is particularly good at harvesting lots of meat from a corpse? You'd think the Raptors would do, but they seem to waste a good amount (~3 hide & ~5 meat from a pig whereas I can get up to 30 meat with a stone pick!).

Just kill Phiomias. They give the most meat with a pick like you said.

You know those pig like creatures with the tusks? They are slow in water when they swim. but try and get them stuck in a corner anyway. 12 meat and 23 hide on average, and they won't fight back.

Yes I meant them. I wasn't asking for the dinos that yield the most meat, but for which tamed ones to use to harvest the most! Like attacking a corpse with a sabretooth cat gives you a lot of hide.

People seem to like using a pack of 4 dilos for that.

Argh! Thank you for your input and all but I know all this! Sorry if the OP was worded poorly, but I'm asking which tamed, saddled dinosaur will harvest the most meat by attacking a body. I'd like to know if there is a way even more efficient than using your own tools!

I'll have a look into that, cheers.

it is late game, but argentavis, t rex, and megalodon are all great meat farms. Megalodon and argentavis are probably best as they move fast while still having good damage. Literally got over 300 meat in a few minutes with the megalodon because wild megas kept spawing.

Argentavis is great for killing the pigs, and weaker herbivores. Once it is leveled up a few times you can even take down brontos with it.

Trex isnt as great because he has a really high metabolism, but he kills stuff faster than any other dino if the target isnt the fleeing type. He works best farming trikes, stegos, and other carnivores.

If using trex, stamina points are an absolute necessity

Megalodon needs some stamina but you can dump most of his points into health and damage

argentavis is a mix between stamin, health, and damage. with any extra points going towards move speed.

I personally like the argentavis best as he also provides you with great exploration capabilities. You can also simply fly away from most threats. Other argentavis are a thing to be wary of however, as they can and will kill your bird if you don't manage your stamina properly. Other than the wild argentavis, there are no major threats that you can't get away from. Killing brontos and trex is super easy as long as you are careful and watch your health.

for the early game you pretty much have to use the tools you craft. the low level dinos just don't seem to gather as much meat. tools are generally way more effective until you can get the high level mounts.

Though nothing will stop you from taming them somehow and letting them follow and defend you. they will automatically eat any corpse they kill so if you can manage to tame one of them using them this way is entirely possible. Just don't expect to be able to ride them until the later levels, unless you use the force tame command.
