stop eating black berry and eat stim berry to sleep, you can also make the cream that heal you but put you to sleep, the bed is for respawn only i think.

Would like to know it as well. :)

Character sleeps when you log off. Sleeping bags are just for spawning if/when you die, and it only works once. The bed allows both you and your tribe members to respawn infinite amount of times.

Narcoberries put you to sleep. Stimberries wake you up, but dehydrate you. You're probably eating Narcoberries and passing out. I made that mistake, then read the tooltip. It's not just flavor text.

Yeah also noticed that the tooltips should not be ignored. :)

But then there is no option to let the night go by more quickly? Don't want to explore the island at night, dangerous enough at day, already. :D

The reason you keep passing out is not cause your sleepy, your character doesnt sleep, but its cause you are eating the black berries. narco berries are used to keep dinos asleep when taming. And the white berries, stim berries are the ones that can prevent you passing out if your torpidity, indicated by the stars that will appear ifm you eat narcoberries or are attacked by a scorpion or shot by a tranq arrow. There is no way to sleep or skip day, sleeping bags and beds are there for respawn points and fast travel, though you drop all items when you do.

You might be falling asleep because of your thirst. If you are dehydrated, your torpidity goes up and you go to sleep

adjust your settings so the night goes by faster.

Atm you cant really sleep, normalle you would "sleep" when you log off, but since the singleplayer world also stopps when you go offline you never sleep.

You might also pass out if you've run out of stamina and you continue to do things like swing your pick or your hatchet. Your torpor will go up and if you aren't paying attention, you could pass out.
You cannot sleep in sleeping bags or beds. They're just for respawns.
Also, yeah. Don't eat the black berries.

If you are playing single player you can up your gamma in game so its not as dark but there is no sleeping to pass night by. Just press tab and a bar will show up at the bottom just type in "gamma 4" and it will be bright enough to see then when its morning again type "gamma 2.2" and it will be back to normal. About the passing out there are things that will up your torpor which will cause you to pass out when it gets high enough, some of those things are eating narco barries, not drinking water when you need it, getting hit by a scorpion or pachy, in pvp getting hit by tranq arrow or a sling shot will also up it.

what I do is I explore during the day, hunt etc. At night I build on my base, gardens etc. I also craft at this time.

I think it is a more effective use of the time since sleep is not part of the equation.

You can light torches around your base.

As stated sleeping bags are one time ues.

A bed is a better thing to have. If you die you have the choice to respawn there.

Also, if you build other bases you can build a bed in each. That way you can transport between bases. (not sure if it is a bug or not) The only catch is you leave all of your gear behind. So you need to have gear at the other base too.

At least it is that way in single player.

Something I found fits the bill perfectly? Putting out a sleep bag then getting prone. There's clipping but you basically look like you're sleeping on your stomach in a bed that's cushy & swallows you up. Trust me, I get the need to put the character to sleep. Three cheers for RP!!! ;p
