Color ranges- how does it work?
It's been a while since Ive looked, but is there a list of the color ranges or like, what possible colors there are? or is any color possible, its just about breeding/areas? Is there a mod or setting to make colors appear more vibrant?

All that info can be found on the official wiki. Check the individual page of each creature to see that dino's color regions and the possible colors it can spawn with in the wild:

https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Creatures

and any of the colors on this page can be gained through mutations, including the dyes colors below (make sure to switch to the Ark Evolved tab not the Ascended one, as ASA has some different dyes to ASE).

Yes, check the wiki. Some creatures do not use all color ranges. There are a few creatures I think that only have 2-4 of the areas, the rest can't be set. They're automatically a set color (like the element mutated living cybernetics on extinction creatures).

on dedicated servers, it is also possible to set custom color palettes for wild spawn and the chance this palette is choosen for wild dinos https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Server_configuration#DynamicConfig

Right click on Ark Survival Evolved in your Steam library listing and select properties.

Under Launch Options, add: -activeevent=PAX

This will give you almost all the available colors on any dino/creature in single player.

This can also be done on a server.
