Taxidermy
Hi, so I have a question about taxidermy. I play on Valguero and I have gotten to 105(first time breaching the 80's and above. However, I have some really good (non mutated creatures) I really want to taxidermy but I find I need to be on Extinction for this. If I transfer out of the map, will the map reset? Will I lose controll of my creatures? Can I come back knowing the engrams? I dont want to lose anything as I love my life on this map but I do want to have taxidermy. Is switching maps temporarly best(willI still keep my tames, builds and everything?) or should I look for a mod to get taxidermy and in that case wich one? Because those I have seen seems to be out of date to say the least.

Thanks for reading and your help <3

When you switch maps, everything on the old map remains. As long as you keep the dlc installed the map files will remain. It's possible to save all the files and remove the dlc afterwards.

I generally don't transfer the actual character, I create a new player character on the next map. I then transfer items and tames in cryopods to the new character. I play on multiple maps, and switch frequently. I find it's much quicker to just transfer stacks of special/rare items like kibble, tranq darts, etc. I have blueprints for making copies of super high level ascended gear, and generally make those copies on genesis 2 where it's really easy to get resources. If I start a new map, the blank level 1 character gets a whole care package to get them outfitted.

Be aware you can only have one character per map. If you transfer a character from another map through the obelisks/mission terminals, it could overwrite an existing one.
Always pays to make a manual backup of your save files before doing anything big, just so you have a copy to fall back on if something goes wrong. However no, so long as everything works right nothing on your old map should change, and you should just be able to hop from one to the other without major issues. Your bases will remain, and your tames still yours.

There are occasional glitches where characters can be lost or corrupted by transfer, which is why I say make a backup first, just in case - that way if anything does go wrong you can swap the backup files back in and revert to your current save state as if nothing ever changed. But those bugs shouldn't affect you all being well.
