Help with Mating Speed Multiplier
So I’m breeding some Argents and I got tired of waiting for the mating bar taking forever, and I read all over online to put MatingSpeedMultiplier=x in the game.ini file to speed it up. It seems to be working for literally everyone but me, does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

i've tried a bunch of numbers. i've tried 2.5, 3.5, 5, 10, 30, and 50. none of them are making any difference.

The first thing I would ask is, are you mating new creatures or waiting on the old ones? The number is not retroactive, it will not affect the cooldowns on creatures which mated before the config was added. It will only affect newly mated creatures.

EDIT: Oh wait a minute, you said the SPEED multiplier not the INTERVAL multiplier, my bad.

Are you in single player or on a dedicated server? And what is the file path to the config file you are editing?

It's a global var, they will take effect immediately in singleplayer. On a server you will need to restart. The op is obviously increasing the interval. Wiki quote:

"Higher number increases (on a percentage scale) interval between which dinosaurs can mate
Example: MatingIntervalMultiplier=0.5 would allow dinosaurs to mate 50% sooner"

They said 'MatingSpeedMultiplier=x', not the interval. Threw me at first too, as you can see from my post above. But they aren't talking about the gaps between mating, they're talking about how long the actual mating takes for dinos.

It's in Singleplayer. The path is This PC/Local Disk C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/ARK/ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Game.ini

and yes, i am talking about how long the actual mating itself takes

You can't configure that. And the global you've posted just does what the wiki says, so I don't see my mistake?

Okay, that should be the correct location yeah. I assume the file has [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] at the top of it? Do you have any other configs in that file, and are those working correctly?

I think I caused most of this confusion, I apologise for not explaining myself very well. My bad in misunderstanding the OP's question initially, and for not writing clearly enough in subsequent posts to explain what I mean. Rly sorry to all. :steamsad:

You posted about the mating interval multiplier, which governs how long a female has a cooldown for before they are able to start mating again. At first I too thought the OP was asking about that, and responded in that respect in my first post.

But the OP isn't asking about the interval, they're asking about the mating speed multiplier - how long a pair of dinos takes to mate, from the moment they start until an egg is produced/the female becomes pregnant. Hence why I corrected my post above. There is a variable for that too, it can be configured the same as the interval multiplier. It's listed on the wiki directly below the interval one.

yes, thats the first line of the file. and yes, all the settings that you can mess with in game are in that file and the ones that I changed are all working correctly.

i also have singleplayer settings turned off, and that didnt do anything either

In that case are you using any mods at all? I wonder if one of those could be interfering with the setting somehow...
