Is there a way to build on uneven ground?
I have tried using the pillar with no luck
The ground i have started my house on slopes gradually down and i can not seem to figure out how to add a foundation on the downsloping side
Any hints tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm trying to figure this out too. I was thinking of just putting a ramp?

i had to build the next one a "level down" and add ramps to get the floors to meet, in some places you can place the pillar, place a wall then ceiling remove the pillar and snap a foundation this of course wastes the pillar.

Ok this is my problem see the side with no wall yet? I can't build there the ground is to uneven and on the side that has wall I can't build there because it's to much of a drop .. when I build pillars I can't build walls on it.. I can stack pillars but nothing will snap to it? I really wanna make a wall all the way around my base but I can't get the placement cause of the uneven ground .. wish I could just snap foundations even if it's underground or flying so I can just do what I'm trying to do. Or even better just snap a wall to the piece I can build and build a foundation after the hill and make them line up.

EDIT: also, the side that the wall is on has the gate above the ground by almost enough to crawl under cause the high side is where the gate set it's "foundation"

@ OP use a roof instead of a foundation at that one spot. Will work for one tile if needed. Although you will have a slight bump in the "floor" of your building where the roof is instead of a foundation.

ok thanx I'll try that too.. I don't care about a bump it's more about the wall if I could just build wall with no foundation I would ;)

I would love the option to be able to raise or lower the foundations/ pillars into the ground so that we can get an even floor. Plus i think we need a different color for the placing of fence foundations, it being green and if u are trying to place it down in a green area makes it incredibly difficult to do so

well my friend built on a hill. what he did was build a pillar first then place a ceilling. then put another cieling as far as u can the build the pillar downwards onto the ground. he kept doing that and now he built a decently big base thats on pillars high enough to put a trex under it.

I got onto my spinosaur and it allowed me to outrange the snap point or w/e and I had to just eyeball it right next to the other foundation....it was just like 3 ft taller

THe only way I've done this is to place a foundation, surround it with ceilings then drop pillars through the ceilings all the way to the ground (which can sometimes be several levels). You then carry on placing more ceilings and pillars until you get the layout you want (I then demo the foundation and put a ceiling/pillar there as well). You then have the option to demo all the ceilings and place new ceilings so that they sit on top of the pillars. It's the only way to get the pillars all on the same level because sometimes there's just no way to build them up from the ground.

This might be old but could help new players. I get around this by using fence foundations then slapping walls on top of them. You can get them to snap and you will have little gaps at bottom as you go downhill but Al least let's you close the area in.

You can try to lower the first foundation starting at the top of the hill but this only helps for a slightly uneven ground/hill.
Place a foundation and place a pillar in the middle of the foundation. Now you have a new, second snap point which is slightly lower (have to press Q a few times maybe). You can repeat this process to get your foundation even lower into the ground.

I have found you can do pillars but they start sticking through the bottom which looks dumb so I started building a basement in all my structures so you can't see them but they still allow me to build as big as I need to.

if you are in single player you could use structures + mod as it makes building pretty much anything much much better than the default building ark has

You need to place the pillar first and then the ceiling but basement works too and I usually build with a similar basement type thing and then I run all my cables and pipes down there so everything is neat and tidy up top.

It's doable, but fairly annoying as you will need to use pillars.

Place a foundation at the highest point and go straight down hill as far as you can. Then use ceiling tiles until you find the center of where you want to build. Place pillars under the furthest ceiling tile. Demo the rest. Then build as normal.
