Fastest way to get hide?
Ok so I just tamed my first Parasaur - just a little excited lol.. Thing is I need a bed and I need a saddle which means I need a LOT of hide. Can anyone give any tips on the fastest way to get some. My parasaur is only level 2 so a bit worried he might get killed if I take him out hunting. :/

Get a saber tooth tiger you have hide forever

Get C4 and blow up dilo's, I got tons out of the little things.

Jokes set aside, use a hatchet on the dino's you kill and you get more.
Its okay! As long as you put him somewhere safe he'll be fine. I suggest killing dodo's, Dilos, and pigs to get the hide you need! Just play it safe til you get a bed set up.
Go to a cave, after you've cleared it the titanaboas will have given you like 400 hides
The Para is not really a good hunting partner.
Go for the beaches, hunt Dodos, Dhilos and the Phimia(they've got tons).

You should not use a parasaur for hunting. He's a mule. he should carry things, not fight things.

Phiomias are a GREAT source of hide, as are other parasaurs. The trick is catching them. If you can't catch them or kill them quick enough, just farm dodos or dilos until you have enough hide for your saddle! :)

T rex :D but at your tier you should kill phil for meat or coel(fish small ones) remember use pickaxe for meat and hatchet for skin.

animals that grant fair amount of hide is as follows at your level, trike, dillo, steggo, all you can kill if you know how to play fps games and how to trick ai.

And especially easy if you got a para with saddle.

keep in mind once you killed them jump off and use hatchet!

Screw what everyone else is saying.
Get c4 and blow up a dilo.

Harvesting 1 bronto with a sabertooth gives me around 50 hides. I don't think tools give that much (it has been a long time since I used tools for harvesting kills). Turtle kills around 15 to 20. Even got 7 hides from a Dodo once with it :D

I, uh... am pretty sure that the OP is probably pretty low levelled to be talking about building a parasaur saddle.

Build a slingshot and kite the giant turtles into unconsciousness, then kill them and harvest them with the hatchet for the greatest hide yield. Lather, rinse, repeat. If you can corner the elephant things into a cliffside or something even better but turtles don't outrun you.
I'm nearly level 30, so the raptor is really the best option I have right now for easy kills. It does seem that using a hatched nets you more hide/meat, but not by much.

((yah can get it at level 15.....))

Thanks so much everyone so many great suggestions. I get so scared leaving my home at the moment in case I die and get lost again haha.. I will leave dino back at home while I go a hunting then, I didn't think he was a hunter since he ran away from me - I only managed to tame him because he got stuck on a glitch so was able to knock him out. :) Thanks again guys!

Just leveled up to 10 so yeh prob classed as a newbie ;)
If the guy just tamed his first Dino....find and kill Phiomias..use a Hatchet instead of Pick to harvest hides. One collects more of one type of resource than the other.
Otherwise if you can take on bigger Dino..basically the bigger they are more Hide/Meat they provide. Using Metal tools is supposed to be better also..however I really wonder about that sometimes so far when I look at the harvest #s vs Stone tools.
