Weapon Suggestion: Wooden Club -> Spiked Mace
I was thinking yesterday about how this game only has 3 ways to raise torpor on dinos and players and was thinking of another way that im kind of surprised the developers over looked. The wooden club! A wooden club could be used as a melee weapon in comparison to the tranq arrows and slingslot as an alternative, one being melee and the other 2 being ranged. The club could have multiple tiers like Wooden Club (stronger hit to torpor then fist and take no dmg), Spiked Club (higher dmg version with a little more knockingout power), Metal Reinforced Club(more duability), then finally a Metal Mace with spikes built in. These would give players another way to knock dinos/players out without damaging themselves. Also offer up another alternative to melee combat instead of using our gathering tools as melee weapons.

good suggestion. a wooden club is something that should be fairly easy to make without any tools. it's actually so simple yet powerful... definetaly a must low lvl weapon!

Im honestly surprised it hasnt been thought of :3 and itd be perfect with the new levels since there will be more engram points to go around

That's actually a good idea and probably wouldn't be that difficult to implement!

Honestly just more simple ideas like this for crafting would be excellent.

Wish this could get a devs attention xD

definitely agree, suggested a club as a tier 1 weapon to my mates last week and we couldnt figure out how something so obvious has bee missed
I was about to write a similar post but then I noticed yours. And you have our idea even more fleshed out with all those variants.^^b

Yeah currently the game has mostly ranged weapons with little to none actual melee weapons unless its a gathering tool... so i figured this would definately bring new gameplay style to the board.

i just noticed none of us have thoughtnof or mentioned swords or knives either.swords are a very logical human development and a better jump in tech then bows to shot guns. knives could also be weapons and better for getting hides.

If more low-tier weapons get implemented, I would also like to see a nerf on the damage inflicted by tools. At this point in time, you're much better off using a stone pickaxe in melee (or even your fists) than the wooden spear - partly because it has a random chance of breaking, but also because it barely does any more damage.

It would make more sense due to the fact of us having a stat called Melee Damage. I understand ranged weapons have a decent damage but this would open us ambushing people and so on without the need to slow down from a distance and attack.

I agree with this. a melee weapon adding more torpor rather than only having your fists would be alot more effective.

Also thinking of megalodon taming here as shooting arrows and slingshots into the water doesnt really work. i know u can kite it up on land and to the surface then shoot at it but thats quite tedious sometimes. :-)

Also I would actually like to see narcotics being used for bullets instead of only arrows!

That's what the hatchets are for though.
Shoubydoo | TTV Jun 15, 2015 @ 9:48am
But hatchets are considered gathering tools for obtaining wood more so then an actual wooden club or mace so it doesnt really say much. The option of an actual club or melee weapon to incapacitate would be fantastic compared to using ranged weaponry to knock down an animal/player other then fist which would damage you.

On the whole knife thing gathering more hide i could see that possible as in real life you use a knife to fillet more meat or skin something.

Perhaps knives and swords would have the ability to hamstring? Lots of mechanics involved I'm sure. But an ability to cripple those Dino's trying to get away.

And perhaps applying narcotics or other poison to arrows or blades for additional knockout or damage.
