Mod Version Mismatch
Hi all, please help I am having an odd problem.

A few friends and I have our own private server with mods, and the other day I transferred my Steam library to an external hard drive. before the transfer I was able to get into the server without issues, however now when I try and go into the server I get "Mod Version Mismatch" "Please ensure the server you are attempting to join is running the latest version of all Mod content."
My other friends are able to get in with no issues.

Have you tried reinstalling the mod? Unsubscribe to it in the Workshop, then get it's mod ID number. Go to:

Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\Mods

and delete the folder and file which has that ID as their names. Then resubscribe to the mod and let it download a fresh install.

Essentially, your issue is due to removing the pathways for the modded content due to moving the files to another drive. As a general rule, especially for Ark, its best to keep steam and your games on the same drive.

However, in generally normal situations when you play on unofficial servers, mod mismatch errors are usually due to the server having an older version of the mod as players update first and automatically from steam. Servers have to update separately. Rarer is the reverse situation but it can happen with a few variable possibilities.

First then make sure the server itself has the most current versions of the mods as that's again the most common issue(and it can happen weekly if the server owner is slow to update). If they have the most up to date version, then it means you have failed to properly update the mods and will need to do so.

In some cases people see others on the server but they can't play due to the mismatch error and its simply because the server and those players too have the older version and you updated to the more recent one. This can happen when you exit a server and it prompts the download that the mod maker just released and the others on the server and the server itself have of course not updated yet(as other players will trigger the need to download after exiting and the server owner needs to update the server too.

So which variable matches your specific situation is unclear so you just need to figure out which one.

Thank you both for the replies! I was able to fix the issue by going to the properties for the game and 'verify the integrity of game files' which found a few errors and i was then able to download the mods and everything worked as it should. :)

Another easy and simple fix is to restart steam and start up game again, do this once or twice and ur problem is solved aslong as the server has the mods up to date.
