Controller Support, and why it SUCKS

There are several things that make Ark extremely difficult to play with a controller. And in-before-just use keyboard & mouse lolz- because I can't due to physical disability. I'm even "typing" this with an assisted program right now. Onto the main issues:

Once you obtain a decent amount of engrams, using the tier menu for your crafting designs is a must. Having the "Show All" checkbox marked makes it very difficult to find what you're looking for. Unfortunately, there's a bug that's existed since I bought the game-

CRAFTING MENU:
If you exit your inventory/crafting window while under a certain category, say Main>Structures>Wooden, when you go back to the crafting menu the "folder" icon to go back to a previous tier disappears. The only way to go back at that point is to mark and unmark the "Show All" checkbox to reset the entire menu. The checkbox is so incredibly small that it's nearly impossible to hit with the controller, forcing you to sit there with a mouse while crafting just to navigate the designs. It's very, VERY annoying. The "Show All" box needs to be enlarged or the bug needs to be fixed. This should be a priority since my guess is one of the main focuses of this game is...CRAFTING.

ALT FIRE MODE:
Another problem with the controller is the utter lack of certain functions. Such as the "alternate fire" button doesn't exist on a controller. If you use a flashlight attached to your firearm, you can't turn it on or off. The only way to use it is with a keyboard shortcut. While Keyboard/Mouse layout is fully customizable, there are NO customization options for the controller. This needs to change. Allow us to change our button layouts for the controller PLEASE!

STACKING:
Also, I can find NO way to split stacks of items with a controller. This function only works with a keyboard & mouse. Why can't we use some sort of combination of controller buttons to do this? Like, say, HOLD Left Trigger & Press A button? Just an idea.

HOTBARS:
The only quickslots available to the controller are via use of the D pad, or by holding down the wheel button and selecting items that way. But the wheel menu doesn't allow you to use items repeatedly like when trying to eat or drink. This forces you to either place food in your primary quickslots or to manually use them from your inventory. Personally, I like to keep my weapons on the first few quickslots just in case I need to whip them out in an emergency. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this preference.

Welp, that's all the bugs I can think of to report right now. I'll probably be flamed and the devs will never read this post but what the hell, at least I tried!

Learn to read son, it will improve your life by 30% guaranteed. Stop being a crybaby and trying to take over a thread about something that is of legit concern to a portion of the community. There are no frogs in the game, judging from the hours you have in game you should know it, so I assume you have sort of learning disability, in which case, I'm sorry for the less than courteous tone of my poste. I find it hilarious that you two don't even realize I'm the OP. While you claim I'm highjacking it. It really has been entertaining, DJ_Persnikity & zxlink. You proved me with a lot of laughs, I owe you both!

It is, in fact, both of you that are highjacking my thread about legitimate concerns for not only physically disabled gamers such as myself, but anyone using a controller. You claim that I'm a crybaby, so by your opionion I should just not say anything about these glaring issues with the game? I believe the entire point of a publicly released "work in progress" is to allow people to find issues with the game, so that the developers can assess the condition of the game and improve upon it.

Now, if we the gamers were not meant to bring our concerns, wishes, and problems with the game to the developers ears, why have a forum at all I ask you? Have you thought of that at all?

Actually, yes there are frogs in the game. You can spawn them with a console command via admin commands. Perhaps it is you who have the learning disability?

Ah, but I'm sure you'll ignore all of these. Come up with more interesting insults to toss my way. I look forward to it. Perhaps when you get a little older, a little more mature, you'll look back on this moment and say, "He was right!"

I could always be wrong but upon attempts to spawn one myself I got absolutely nothing. If you had any screenies (I can see you can post pictures) I will admit I was wrong and gladly give you victory.

You see, I didn't expect you to "treat me with courtesy" as I've known bullies all my life. I spotted the both of you within your first few words. In conclusion, I stand by my original posts. The game is severely lacking in game mechanics. I do not expect the developers to put my concerns above their own, but I do wish that their desires would compliment my own. Because that would make the game much more enjoyable to me. As the game stands, I do not like it very much at all. I'm sure it will improve, and I intend to continue checking on its status now and again, but my gaming hours are better spent elsewhere. That is my right as a free person, a consumer, and in some ways even a share holder. My money has contributed to the furtherment of this game and I would like it to be better for me and my friends. There is an old saying, "Expect nothing, hope for everything." and it is something I live by.

Regarding the OP (Original POST, not poster), yes, controller support is horrible and really should be added. Yes, it's Alpha, and I expect it'll take some time, but they're intending a console release, so getting the game functional with a controller sooner rather than later would be a good idea.

Regarding the rest of the thread... I can agree with your original post and still think you're a jackass.

But hey, /bump. Basic concept deserves attention anyway.

They did say that the current UI is basically a placeholder. Also, they're doing a console port. Hard to do that and sell well without supporting controllers.

Winning and losing is such a childish concept. I never said anything about winning. I simply pointed out the truth of it. They're angry, I'm not. There is no difference between Original Post or Original Poster. It is the same thing. One referes to the thread itself the other referes to the person posting the thread, but they are both referencing the first (origin) of the discussion. Besides, they already admitted they mistaked me for someone other than the OP. Your logic is flawed.

And just because the developers intend to release the game on consoles does not mean the controller support will be good by any means. That is one of the reasons the forums exist after all. To provide input on game issues from the users to the developers and that is exactly what I have done. Think of me as a "jackass" as you will, but you're the one hurling insults, not me.
