Dinosaur Review: Dodo
http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/ark.gamepedia.com/6/67/Dossier_Dodo.png

Information
The Dodo bird. A flightless bird the size of a chicken, it roams the island's beaches and surrounding areas.

Review
The Dodo bird....oh the Dodo. Just about any player can tell you immediately that the Dodo is the easiest target in the game next to the Coel. It's slow, it's weak and it doesn't really attack you 90% of the time (the only time it attacks is if you steal an egg.) It's a beginner's go to source of early meat and hide.

Hunting
Hunting the Dodo is pretty easy. The Dodo is so weak you can kill it simply by punching it, or if you want you can kill it in 1-2 strikes with a weapon. The Dodo's tend to make a distinct sound, so once you learn it you can easily tell when one is nearby. Killing it will yield roughly 0-3 meat and 0-3 hide, depending on your luck and harvesting tools.

Taming
Honestly, I can't say taming these guys are worth it. They're slow, they're weak, they can't carry anything and they'll die by just about anything that looks at it; the only time I've seen them remotely useful is when a player had tamed a small army and had it kill a Dilo. In theory, if you have enough Dodo's at high enough levels they MIGHT be a force to reckon with, but I'll leave the experimentation to other players.

Some people say that they raise the Dodo's like chickens for their eggs only, but I think its a lot easier to get food by jumping into a river and spearing a fish. Also, players have claimed that Dodo's make very good manure production for farming. I have yet to grow a farm or tried this, so I personally cannot say if this a viable option or not.

Despite being one if not THE lowest lifeform in the game, these guys have a pretty serious fanbase. Many players have done everything they could think of to make creative uses for the Dodos. Rooster fighting arena? Fun. Chicken coop? Yummy. Personally I have dreams of a pit where I can dump prisoners into to be killed by an army of Dodos. Because Dodos.

Actualy taming these guys is so simple it's funny. Just a few punches will knock them out, feed them a handful of berries and they'll follow you like happy little chickens.

Final Thoughts
The Dodo's prescence in the game is an easy to kill, easy to get source of meat and hide for beginners. Once you gain a few levels you'll immediately move on to bigger and better things and should simply ignore these birds until you have the time and resources to get creative.

You're no fun, tame a pack of 10-20 dodos, slam them up to 500-600 HP by levelling, then full damage. Enjoy. ;)

Also, quite useful for trash dinos to carry your excess fiber/implants/blueprints/whatever that takes up space but weighs nothing.

I don't know about "weak," I've got a couple in the 160 range that I'm using as base defense, it's rather amusing. I like this breakdown though, going to post more?

A small brood of dodos is useful for their amazing amount of poop production - 3 poop makes one fertilizer, their poop production seems almost nonstop - as well as their egg production (useful as a food source with a really slow decay timer, and for making kibble for Ichthyosaurus'). They can also do pretty well as a squad of ant-killers if you station them in a group among your larger dinos.

Your overall review of them makes you sound like a beginner though.
Maybe a singleplayer only guy?
Don't know, but taming a lot of them for their egg laying ability is great and it's the path to the cheapest kibble and with it, you'll be able to get a lvl +90 Itchy no problem and who wouldn't want an Itchy to kill Megalodons for a great food source?

Maybe you hadn't thought about the future possibilities with them, who knows. All in all, they're not as bad as you make them seem and you shouldn't just "forget about them" :) The future Dodo-Rex wouldn't like that.

dodos...eggs...kibble... Yes ! I have a 88 ichtyo, he was tamed using kibbles only, faster than another lvl 8 tamed only with meat.
