Have you tried? Not saying they definitely would, but I've been surprised by unexpected game mechanics before.
No i havent tried but in the eyes of the game its not a fish, its a dinosaur. You can tame em. Cant tame fish
So a coel or salmon, when in a fish basket, is counted as a tamed creature, and the shadowmane accepts the basket item with a tamed creature in it. The only question would be, would a tamed angler in the same fish basket be counted as the same 'item' that the shadowmane's taming mechanic requires?
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't, but we'd have to test it to be certain.
