Yes, only unofficial servers are available now, but I believe there are still a decent number of public ones. Check out Battlemetrics for a listing, as the in-game server browser has many issues and can't display all the servers properly. Bear in mind though, if you do check said listings - maps can be joined together in a cluster for this game. So you may see many servers all with just a handful of players, but it may be that each of those servers are linked, and the community behind said servers is actually quite large. The players may be spread across multiple maps, but they may all be in a Discord chat together, and swapping from one map to another at will, so just because a server's individual numbers may be low, it doesn't mean the server is dead.
Use sites like battlemetrics to see unofficial servers. Depends on what kind of server you're trying to find. I am sure there are still PVP servers around, but a lot of that community only wanted to play on officials, where no one could cheat. Or at least it was harder to cheat.
I wonder what kind of support it would have at all if there was a way to have mods on consoles for ASE.
1. Been only private servers since Sept 2023.
2. There are over 30,000+ unoffficial servers.
3. "Best" is subjective and if you want to decide for yourself per your wants, you'll need to either look at the subforum here for server ad's or use the website battlemetrics which is the only site that can comprehensively list all 30k+ servers since the in game search system isnt capable of doing so.
Thing is that consistently, people continue to play ASE more than ASA.

Snail Games did a really bad public relations job when they announced ASA. It came across to me as "We're cancelling Ark2 until the devs learn to use the Unreal 5 engine. We're making ASA for the devs to practice using the Unreal 5 engine. You will have to buy the game again and we can't handle importing your ASE progress to ASA. We owe Nitrado a lot of money for running our official servers, so if you want to run unofficial dedicated servers, you will have to pay Nitrado to run them to help us pay for official servers."
I think they've backed off about that last part, but it's not enough for me to buy the entire game again and have to start over, especially since 3 of our core group quit after Genesis 1 because of their missions that are designed for children.
So no, I won't give Snail any more money to be a beta tester for ASA.
