today a tribe mate had the same experience with a tree.
here is what i encounter all the time (not exactly same, but likely related)
- unconscious players often fall through thatch foundations onto the ground.
- more often than not, unconscious players will fall through ANY foundation (thatch, wood, stone, metal) if the foundation is on a movable platform (raft, dino...)
all of these situations are painful on any server. however, in hardcore it can be devastating.
i don't know what the QA process really is, but it seems that if Wildcard actually experienced these bug, they would have been fixed long ago.
Why the heck are people not making a big deal out of this when you could loose you're best stuff with any death cause it'll fall through the ground and not cause you were killed or died to legit reasons and couldn't get back to the area in time. And I would have gotten it back cause I was just outside our tribes base.
I'm just guessing, but I think this is a game engine problem. It seems like they're using 16-bit positional coordinates or something because the location precision is worse than in any game I've ever played.
I'm playing. My wife plays on a computer next to me. We're looking at the same thing. I'm shooting a Rex in the head. On her screen, I'm missing it entirely. It's super messed up.
Another example: I'm carrying her on an Argent. On my screen she is clearly above ground. On her screen I'm dragging her UNDER the terrain.
If they don't know where anything really IS, then they can't know when you're falling through a structure or not. Because they don't know if you're above it or below it.
If this is really the problem, this is a HUGE undertaking for them to fix, and it's not going to happen soon. It's literally months of effort to fix this problem if that is the case. They need 32-bit or 64-bit grid precision to know where you are in high enough detail to stop[ this happening, I think.
All on new map btw.
This is ticking me off. Yesterday my tribe mate fell threw the ground 3 times. Lost full sets of flak armor sword piked metal shield eatch time. Today i died to a argentivs (griffin) right next to my base. Nbd right. But before i died i noticed it said im super far from my bed and moving. Hear water. Go to the spot i died and nothing. I lost several mastercraft items some journeymen items and full set of (ramshackle maybe? Cant remember its name. One step up from normal armor) but flak none the less. Killed a lvl 150 alpha rapter. Got few good items had my armor ar 200 rounds my rifle and fell off a cliff near my other base. And again fell threw. So in roughly 24 hrs total we lost around 1000 metal ingots worth of of stuff. They need to fix this now. Its gone on long enough. End rant.
I can´t count anymore how often I have lost my stuff due to it falling through the ground. I have no problem with dying, if I have done a mistake, but loosing the stuff because of such a stupid bug is making me crazy..
At least, as admin I can get my stuff back via commands and I would not hesitate to help others out in such a case, because it is so incredible frustrating..
The thing is, although I have a really good internet connection, I often loose connection for a couple of seconds due to the damn wifi..This means, when I´m flying around and it happens again, I´ll inevitably loose all my stuff.
I wouldn´t care so much if this would be regular stuff, but when you carry journeyman gear for example, that took some time and luck to find, it really gets frustrating.
PLZ devs wake up and fix it already!
Where did you read that?
I dont want to hear any excuses claiming this is an Unreal Engine problem because their engine works just fine for just about every other game running it. This has been going on almost as long as the harvest bug did. FIX THE PROBLEM. Stop adding completely useless and idiotic dinos like the diplo derp derp, manta, or lystro.
