Dimetrodon.
I really don't want to be one of those people, but this is just messed up. The difficulty of this tame is not even close to the general value of the creature itself. Whether you want to argue "It's a portable AC", then let me remind you that an Ankylosaurus is a "living pickaxe", Gigapith is an "autonomous fiber gatherer" and Brontos and other platform capable animals are "portable bases". This thing, what's it do? Substitute your need of an AC, something you can get at, what, level 55? When you could actually use Fur armor to keep yourself warm in the Snow Biome at level 35? When over half the things in the biomes that this thing is useful in are more than likely capable of killing it in 3 shots? The Dimetrodon should have the value of a Sarco at the very most, and right now the difficulty of its tame is literally comparable to the Giganotosaurus, the apex of the island.

As much as I hate to say it, this thing needs its tame nerfed. It's completely displaced from where it belongs in terms of game progression, so rather than trying to keep veteran players "challenged", put this thing where it truly belongs in this game. It's simply not worth it as it is.

"In other news, I have some complaints about how quickly doors open..."

With apologies, love 'n hate, BMD4. Have a fine time~

I think most would agree.

I did not yet to attempt to tame one. What makes it difficult?

sorry for the noob question, but what makes it so hard to tame?

Hunger depletes slowly, torpor drops at roughly 80 per second (when taking into account its total torpidity that's very fast), and its favorite kibble is Quetz from the sounds of it. The actual creature is rather fragile and has HP on the low side, which means you have to be very careful with your approach when knocking it out, but also be wary of the torpor that drops rapidly.

It doesn't have a favorite kibble.

I only got that bit from one of my friends, I heard somewhere somebody saying it also likes Rex kibble, so that got me a little wary about it. So, if that's the case, then quite honestly that's even worse.

Prime meat works fine

Yeah I agree dimetrodons should not require the same kibble as such a monster as a giga. i was expecting oviraptor egg kibble. the new dinos have had stupid taming reqs lately.

Just been reading that, and , yeah. I ain't taming one. And that hurts me because I love dimetrodons, but those requirements are just ridiculous. The torpor decrease, the time required the food needed, and to do it all in the swamp, a bloody hostile environment where you won't be able to take yourself out of it's inventory. I will never actually use its ability, and that's too much to go through just to have a cool pet.

Weird how I'm so happy with the dung beetle, and so disappointed with this. Never mind, at least it's a new thing to chomp on when I go trundling through the swamps.

But prime meat is basically its kibble. It just eats Quetz kibble.

What is an AC? Air Conditioner?

Use darts if you are worried about its health. Darts barely damage health when trying to tame a creature. There are very safe methods to taming a fragile creature :)

Try and not go solo if you can avoid it. Have someone on the ground or try and shoot it from a rock.

My buddy and I tamed a quetz in the swamp. As soon as it fell, we cleared the area of bad guys and built a fence around him. Lots of trees in the swamp. Respawns are close to null with you in the area.

WHat you can do is also clear the area of all the other mobs first then take him out or even build a taming cage and lure him in it.

It really isnt that bad.
