Can't find my friends server (help)

I have his exact IP address and name of his server and here's the things i've tried.

1. Loading ark and typing in exact server name in Ark, with unofficial servers and show servers with password requirements clicked.

2. I've tried looking up all steam servers with the ip address using the steam app. It says couldn't find it.

Why can't I find his server?

Can other people find the server? If not I would say it's a port forwarding issue.

My buddies having the same problem. Everyone can find my server except him. Any ideas?

I too am having this issue. A friend of mine runs a private server and he and a few other friends of mine never have trouble finding it, but i can almost never get it to show up even through the steam server viewer unless one of them is already on it.

Put the server on arkservers.net. Then tell the server owner to send you the link of the server page.

Get the Ip from the one who runs the server then use the steam menu above your screen at "view" in the dropdown menu "server" ...a window will pop up, you can search by ip there.

Hmm just put the IP or the server's name at this page, you will find and it's very fast. You can join this server from there :)

Try opening the Servers list from within steam using the View menu in the top left, click on the favorites tab and click on Add Server.
Enter the ip and use the query port instead, should be something like 27015, click the "Find games at this address" button and it should show up.

Add it to your favorites and then when you launch Ark, click on Join and in the bottom left corner make sure you have favorites selected from the drop down.

Everything everybody so far suggestest is good. But here few other ones can try too.

A) reboot router/modem/all one device. ( just rule out it's not bad connection/ or router isnt the issue).
B) try connecting threw steam server list.
C) do speed test ( www.speedtest.net) make sure have stable connection. 5 Mbps + download prob min,

But try this

1) steam server list

Open up steam, At top menu above store Menu (Steam/view/friends/games/Help) in small text
Steam -> View-> Servers -> Favorites-> Add a server ->
1) -> ip # here ( 1.2.3.4 ) -> Find game by this Address..
Or ( example) myarkservr.dds.net -> Find game by this Address
May need hit " Find game by this address " a few times. Its steam issue.

Steam seems have issue, if you spam refresh. You should finally get info back.
If you do not. You may have get in contact with either your isp or check make sure your router is ok. or no software is blocking access ( allow internet to connect ).

If that all fails. Try other servers. If connect fine with others, but not this friends server.
Then chances are it one server that is having issues.

Also try do power cycle of your router/modem or all in one device.
Remember router/modem or all in one devices are on 365 days a year. They do tend get bad connection after awhile.

Unplug power' wait 10 second. Plug back in. Should take Aprox 2-5 mins for re connect, depending on equipment and what connection it is.

There has been many people (myself included) with similar issues. A lot of them with the same solution that I discovered. There is often a difference in the connecting port number for the IP address. If your IP look like this for example 107.529.206.352:27315, then the working connection port to join the server is :27316 and NOT 27315. You should be able to find the right port number by contacting the Server Admin/Host. They can find it in the server settings if they forgot. Hope this helps XD

Ever ark server will either default to 27015-27020, 7777-7779, but can be changed by the server owner or admin if they feel they need too.

The best and easiest way as I said is look via steam server list. However the server and client are STILL beta and because they millions ark servers. Steam has trouble finding them.
Also some ISP may block certain ports for security reason. Also if your router your using is OLD or hasn't been rebooted in yr or more. It's ports can get stuck open or close sometimes.

Remember a router is on 365 day a year.

I ran my server for approx 3 yrs and had my share of issues for connection and ports.
However as said the server is not opmized and still Heavly bugged. My server load up has gotten worst since the last few patchs. And lost my players so I shut down intill wc opimzes

I know this is an old thread but I used it yesterday and found an ACTUAL fix. My GF's cpu was playing on my server just fine, shut it down and the next day, nothing. She could see everyone else's servers except mine, neither on the LAN or Unofficial. Somehow her internet settings were changed from private to public, I changed it to private and bammo! I was able to find my server on both the LAN and Unofficial lists.

Ok, a fix finally found, the mods on my GF's cpu were not updating at all and that caused her to not see the server, hope this helps someone else.

Just a note since this is old. Haven’t had my serv up in years now. Noir have loaded up ark, don’t even have install anymore. Just want let other know in case they find this old thread, As gave up on ark and was busy with “ Beast of Bermuda” Though maybe one day go back to ark.
