Quote directly from the wiki page...

"One of the stranger creatures in the waters surrounding the Island is Basilosaurus solatiumfecit. It's a powerful swimmer which has adapted to the shallows so remarkably well that it rapidly recovers from injuries when near the water's surface. Conversely, it's vulnerable to deep water pressure, which slowly causes it harm"

Take multiple tames. Don't fixate on a specific single "tame".
An army of sharks... Barys.
Start breeding 😉

Having a look at your hours you seem very new. So to clarify, you take armies of tames to confront bosses. No single tame will be enough no matter what that tame is.

You've seemingly also started on Gen1 which is like the 5th map in the story progression. Not exactly meant for newbies.

For bosses you ideally need to breed for mutations on the strongest creatures you can get. In the case of the Moeder, the strongest which can enter the arena are mosasaurs, so tame a lot of those to find the best stats you can and breed them over and over to buff those stats even higher.

If you are playing single player settings then that may negate the need for mutations a little bit, however even with those I'm not sure that baryonyx or megalodons would be able to win that fight without some breeding to buff their health, and ideally some HQ saddles too.

And yes, what Zera says is true, Genesis is right towards the end of the game's story progression, so somewhat more difficult than the earlier maps...

actually the basilo is indeed weak inside deep water, but its Hp pool is so high when you invest in it, and the effect so low you can easily travel and explore with it for a long time. even more while feeding it every few mns. regen is actually countering by far the loss when force feeding.

Otherwise you'll have to rely on something less "usefull" in overall. mainly use a mount that won't protect you against (all) electrics effects (they stay the deadliest), and focus either on:
-speed/abilities instead of hp (like a baryonyx, for me by far the best dino for cave but can easily work in ocean as well, but even an good mantra/ichthyo can do the job of exploring)

-or on the opposite focus on hp pull with a plesio or mosa with turrets on the back for example, or a shield.

each player has its style but all three (and more, those are just the simpliest approachs) works with proper management :p

also gen1 is probably the less "tekless" friendly map of all, specially in ocean and snow biomes in term of explorations/quests (tek helmet mostly for radar, half of snow biome is just "blank", and deep depth are just "black" really poor design x)). so if you started as a new survivor (both irl and with a "non-ascended character" lorewise speaking) it's gonna be even more challenging.

Mosasaurus is a better choice for fighting in deep waters. It won't protect you from electric attacks from eels or jellyfish though.

For those, you set the mosasaurus you ride to aggressive. When you're riding it, you have total control over it.

But as soon as you see something that could dismount you with electric attacks you dismount beforehand. Then the mosasaurus goes BERSERK on them. Use whistles to turn off aggressive and call it back to you. Set back to aggressive and saddle up again. Just keep repeating everytime you see something that's going dismount and stun you.

Whistling 'attack this target' from a distance on the dangerous stuff also works, and saves having to swap the aggression level back and forth over and over again. You should only have to do that on jellies too - eels can't dismount the player from the saddle as I recall, only slow your mount down. Also it helps to have two of them following each other, because if one gets stunned the other can come help it out, whereas one on it's own can be completely stunlocked by jellies.

However if we're talking general ocean survival here, the best option is a tuso. It's attack range with it's tentacles makes it much better at dealing with such threats, you can just bat them to death from miles away before they reach you.

But yes, mosas are tankier and less prone to getting stuck, so if we're specifically talking about the boss fight, they would be preferable over a tuso.
