Ark 2 has already been delayed to late 2024, with some information from (I think) one of the companies that helps Wildcard, that the release is actually 2025 (this is unconfirmed, but since Wildcard loves to delay and lie about what they are doing it might as well be true).
I do agree with the last part, though we don't know how much different it will be.
Imo you shouldn't buy it either way because of the bs they pulled when they announced it, the price for the update (that was anounced as free, and that most people already paid for the game and both season passes) and pulling the plug on Ark 1's servers but that's just my opinion...
People who enjoyed ark may not like the "souls like" part of ark2.
That's why I will not be buying Ark 2. It's a radical deviation from all that made the original game great - from what we have heard about it so far practically nothing about it will be like ASE. And unless that changes, or unless I hear something remarkable about it in future which really catches my attention, I know I very likely will not find it interesting, and so do not plan to buy it.
ASA, on the other hand, is like the original Ark, so that might well interest me. Except for the fact that I don't know whether I can fully trust WildCard based on past experience, so am holding off on that until I see they can deliver.
They will probably shut down ASA servers as well, when Ark 2 releases.
Fool me once, shame on you. Don't trust WildCard/Snail anymore.
Their programming is trash and they rely purely on the Unreal Engine to make their game look pretty.
They can't even compress files at all, with the game weighing WAY more than it should and still being a buggy mess after years of development.
Does anyone really think they will be able to make a functioning game with a newly-released and barely explored UE5, when they already failed at UE4?
Ark 2 is definitely wait and see. Don't forget that all the videos out there are speculation, the content creators are just talking rubbish for the clicks / views. You would get an equally useful opinion on Ark 2 by asking your cat. My cat says "buy" FWIW.
I can definitely say that I won't be buying the UE5 version if my existing maps cannot be imported into it.
I might buy it if at least my very well bred and mutated dinos can be transferred into it.
But after over 9000 hours of playing Ark, I'm already kind of burned out on it, but was still having fun with mutation breeding. However, as it is now there doesn't seem to be any point. While I believe the UE4 version will still continue to exist, support for it will eventually die.
But I agree, both the UE5 version of the existing game and Ark2 are wait and see.
Until then, I will most likely be playing other games. For sure, I'll be playing Diablo 4 in June, because I pre-ordered it and have played the two previous betas and liked them immensely.
Yes, of course. But I routinely re-visit online games as old as Anarchy Online, released in 2001. After awhile, the burn out fades.
I also usually start a new map in Ark with a new toon, then once it gets it gets into the grinding stage, bring my main toon over. As it stands now, I don't know if I can do that.
So as I said, I'll wait and see.
