spider
Would be cool if they added an anti-arachnid setting in Ark ascended, not suggesting just think it would be cool.

This game is massively end of life. Dont expect any changes to be coming to Ark Survival Evolved.

Anything to add beyond being a forum troll taking passing stabs at others? I get your pedantic point, though I had read, understood, and given this is the ASE forum was just highlighting that such changes would never likely come to the game that THIS forum is for. Hence why I specifically said ASE...

as someone that is arachnophobia myself....I'm fine with ingame spiders cause I know IRL meeting them would be worse. Get a bug killer and the spiders and other crawlers aren't scary anymore. Granted I have tamed a few and wonder 'why' but honestly its a game. I've seen WORSE spiders in media then Arks Spiders to be honest.

I have pretty strong arachnophobia also, but for some reason the spiders in Ark don't really set me off. You'd think they would, with the graphical detail they have and all, but oddly enough I find the blocky spiders in Minecraft much more disconcerting than this game. Think it has something to do with the way they scuttle around and their legs move, rather than their actual appearance...

But regardless, I will just say - remember that one of Ark's greatest strengths is it's customizability. For all their mistakes, WildCard have made a few really big wins as well, and opening up config options to us players so we can adjust the game as we see fit is a huge one of those. If we wish, we can even go so far as to remove spiders from the game almost entirely, replacing them in the caves with other creatures instead.

This is one of the game's biggest assets, and I highly doubt that they would remove it from ASA when it was a big feature of what made ASE so popular. So I don't think you'd have to worry too much, OP, about that point. I have concerns about whether we'll see ASA at all, that is a distinct uncertainty right now imo. But if we do see it, I would imagine that the .ini settings such as NPCReplacements and admin commands to grant yourself boss wins and tek engrams without actually having to face the broodmother will still be available for us to use there, just as they are for us now.

While on topic of phobias.
Anyone here who has Trypophobia DO NOT take closer look at Arthropluera's "eyes".
It'll give you night terrors.

Ah yes, good ol' "salt shaker vision".

(Spoiler just in case that sets anyone off, don't think it would but don't want to upset anyone.)

There are some maps where Spiders spawn on the surface. So you'll want to do a config code to remove spiders completely. Unfortunately, you can't completely remove Broodmother, so you'll just have to skip her battles, there are some spots where Broodmother can spawn as a non-boss...so watch out.

I'm not aware of any mods that would replace the spider models entirely though. But Wildcard most likely won't give an option to remove spiders, so I wouldn't bet on them.

I do not have arachnophobia, but I do wonder if it's a good idea to try to get used to them and face your fear since they're not real. But again, I don't know, and if it's really bad, then you might just have to remove them entirely via config.

One way you can help yourself with insect phobia is to always remember the fact of the ant and the boot or the Person and the building. No matter how scared you are of a insect, arachnid etc. you are so large and heavy you can instantly kill them with the amount of pressure you can instantly hit them with. being it a foot hand etc. just like a car or building falling on a person there is nothing you can do to stop it or no damage you could actually do in the process to damage it. Its the same situation when a person sees a insect in real life. you can instantly destroy it without fear of injury if you just crush it without remorse.

There is no real rational fear its only in your head.

The creatures on this list would like a word with you.

(Needless to say, TRIGGER WARNING in the link for those who really struggle with spiders.)

Not to mention on the broader point of insects, things like wasps and hornets which can give very painful stings, and mosquitoes which can carry disease. Not entirely 'no rational fear', surely.
