Dedicated Server Hangs
Not sure if this will do any good, but not a whole lot of options anymore.

Was playing on dedicated server using ASM. Got a notice an hour ago that S+ needed to be updated, server shutdown in 20 mins. Was like ok, we logged off and I manually shut the server down and restarted it. Now it hangs half way through the startup during the part where it says Server Is not set to official or running NewYearEvent argument.

Didnt change anything other than letting S+ update. Server is 357.4 and 0 mods out of date.

This is where it sits endlessly. If I look at my steam servers, I see it up and 0/15 players, when we open the game it cannot find any session.

My own server says that about the new year event, has done that since several server updates ago. But it's not a hang, the server loads up and is running fine. I'm guessing that is what is happening here, just that Ark's broken server browser can't find it for some reason.

Have you tried joining directly from the Steam browser? Open Ark and get to the main menu, then ALT+TAB to the server view window, right click the server and select 'Connect to Server'. The game should automatically try to log in.

Failing that, have you checked the 'Favourites' and 'My Survivors' options on the drop down menu in the server browser? Does the server show up when you select those?

When I try this it says mod mismatch...but I have verified the mods repeatedly...

I verified the mod just now also, Last updated 3/13/23 @ 9:28 and Last downloaded 3/13/28 @ 10:26....

Only mod that had an update was that s+ mod. No issues prior to tonight.

Perhaps something has glitched with the mod download and it has downloaded an older version? Or maybe one of the other mods corrupted somehow? I know we had an issue on our server recently when we updated a mod, and somehow the command line glitched and lost all mod IDs, so when we tried starting the server up all mod items/creatures vanished and we had to revert to backup after we fixed it.

I don't have any experience with ASM so I don't know how that handles mods, but is there any way to delete the server's mod files and force it to redownload them all from scratch? Perhaps that would force it to acquire the latest version or would fix any broken files.

Alternatively, if all else fails, perhaps you could copy the mod files from your client install and paste them into the server mods folder, see if that works?

We don't actually use S+ on our server (I personally prefer Super Structures), so our issue was not caused by this latest S+ glitch. It happened to us a couple of weeks ago, and once we reverted to backup and re-added the mod IDs everything worked fine yeah. Sorry to hear you're still having trouble though - I noticed Orionsun posted a workaround in the bugs section of his discussion board, has that not worked for you?
