Depend on what you like... If you want to collect fruit really fast and don't care about challenge, bear is amazing and can be compared with the bronto.

It run super fast and can carry a lot.

But bronto, collect more then a lots and is super slow.

Both of them are a challange to tame for different reason, bear is more agressive and bronto take more time (i think)

For my part, i prefer the bear ;)

Best thatch collector (imo) decent wood and all the narcoberry and stims and berries anyone could ask for. I'd say there my 3rd or 4th most nessisary dino I have. I go out on mine once a week for a half hour and collect all the nesseties for the whole base. Plus unless you run into a giga or alpha rex you can sleep while doing it. Plus if you just want to clean a area up to see what the land provides lol they will do it. I live in the forest area so after i clear a huge area i can see all the rocks and stuff so then I collect stone.

Yep, bronto is awesome

bronto is bar-none the best berry gatherer in the game. Even with full 300% greenhouse effect on 4 crop plots of narcoberries, my bront can still gather far more in a hsorter time for making narcotics. Its slow weight is completely eclipsed by its gather speed.

Also if you have a platform saddle, you can put mortars on its back and make narcs WHILE gathering

My "safe" base is on Herbivore Island. My bronto is parked in the cul-de-sac and with one "swish" I have all the mejos and narcoberries I need.

With 2 of them, I get bronto eggs which do kibble for top level cats which do caves which get chitin, loot, titanboa eggs and artifacts.

Brontos worth it? Wouldn't have a game without 'em. :)

Depends on the context of the server and settings being used as well as if you are soloing on such, single player, etc.

On a boosted stats server a bronto may not be necessarily worth it because other dinos can do the same work or close to it for the same time amount (and berry necessities may not be as much in demand. Only caveat would be on primitive plus where a bronto also increases your bee gathering chances due to volume(but still a fast trike can be just as decent.

Also since they removed scorpions as a solo taming for quetz carried by argies, if you're unable to use the grapple technique well, you may have to tower/turret/chain bola opt as well(though bronto's are slow unless on a speed boosted server.

Anyway it just really depends on the variables of your situaition, but I'd say just tame one at the very least and be done with it. You never know what might change later.

I use mine for resource farming runs. Sure I could tame a quetz and fly the anky out to get resources, but the quetz can't carry as much as a decent level bronto, and doing a land caravan is much more challenging and fun than just winging it. Plus you can put structures on it's back and refine the materials on-site, meaning they weigh less and you can bring back even more resources for your time.

you need a bronto they are essentials have so much utility

you can use them to farm berries collect thatch or go battle or transfer goods a lot of things good for everything and massive aoe damage will guide you through swamp easily

I'm surprised theres so many pro-bronto people here.

the only thing I am aware of that nothing else does better than the bronto in regard to... is having a ground-based mobile base. if thats what you need, great.

the rest? something smaller is almost always better.

btw, why if you have a greenhouse that gives 300%, why would you only do 4 plots of narcoberries?

It used to make sense to tame some brontos to get eggs for sabertooth.

Since the advent of beavers there is little need for sabers since getting chitin out of the caves is no longer needed thx to beaver dams providing paste.

You can use them for berry farming but i recommend putting at least 10 Points in movement speed or you will fall asleep =)

Brontos should also not be underestimated for base defense. A group of high HP brontos can stall a fight for quite some time by knocking everything back like crazy. They also tank a lot of bullets/damage due to the high health especially if you have a high quality saddle for them.

TL;DR you dont really need a bronto, but then again they are very easy tames if you have the turtle eggs. And i highly recommend having a lot of turtles in case you want to raid someone. That will usually lead to a great amount of turtle eggs anyway...

Except that caves don't just have chitin. I did in fact list the other reasons for a good sabre.

Caving with Saber/Wolf was a good source of chitin back in the days. The only other reason to have a saber/wolf would be Pelt farming.

Its sad but i havend used mine in ages =(
