Hide Host Name on Local Game

Im trying to do a pvp but it very hard when everyone on the map can see me. I tried cheat setadminicon false but it didnt do anthing please help me.

What do you mean with everyone can see you on map?
Btw all "cheat setadminicon 0" does is hide the admin icon, not your name.

When hosting a non-dedicated server, your name shows up to everyone on the map no matter how far away you are from them. It's so that players know your distance so they won't get caught by the non-dedicated tether and dragged around.

I'm afraid I haven't heard of any option to remove that visual name feature. All I can really suggest is try to host your game on a local dedicated server instead. Not only will it remove the tether distance and visual name, it'll also allow you to avoid non-ded bugs like empty caves and titanosaur overspawn.

instead of pressing the "start game" button when you chose to play singleplayer you can simply press "host dedicated server" and that issue is entirely gone

yes but it closes ark
and opens a black cmd tab then it wont let me do anything or start ark

this blank cmd tab is the serverconsole. it literally boots the server. you don't seem to have good hardware since it loads very long for you.

my computer is god it loads it just doesnt let me start ark it says the "application is already running"

Follow this guide. just make a server install of the game on your machine and then have that run the server and then you run your game separately (like all your players).

That will get rid of all the inbetween issues. and no duplicate resources means as long as your computer can handle it you are fine. Also makes it easy to move it on to its own server later if you like.

Yeah but a problem I've encountered with hosting a dedicated server are mods, which I personally use. They never load, yet in non-dedicated they do.

So yeah, thanks Ark crew for not implementing some sort of "Disable" feature for that annoying over-head display.

This thread is 8 years old, you did not mention what problem you are having.
Mods work absolutely fine on a dedicated server.
Start a new thread explaining exactly what you are trying to do and what is it that is not working.

Might be a bit late on an 8 year old post but if you turn off floating names in the settings. it works fine
