south jungle, south tropical island, northern tropical island. those are the safest places, the other jungles are manageable if you know what you're doing and avoid strong spawns

anywhere else is a disaster waiting to happen don't spawn there

the best places to make your long term base when you're starting out are basically any secluded island without crazy spawns or unwarranted attention

To start, select south jungle (islands are not so friendly), go to any of the beach ruins (beach, not river) and mount a basic structure at the ruin. Normally, no one dino go up to the ruin to try to kill you :P Maybe some Lystrosaurus or dodo's searching for company.

i tend to find mid jungle a good spot to start, or i might just be lucky with my spawn there.

I think your luky, or you find a good spot. Mid Jungle have Spino, Giga, Rex, Raptor, etc... cause this to start is better the beach. The river ruins are traps.

yea true there is 2 spinos that spawn there but by time i reach the ruin they are killed. giga tends to be glitched in ruin to the east and t-rex`s usually spawn at the back of cliff in the west, so hardly see them unless they run out of food source in that spot.

Mid jungle is by far safer than south jungle. South jungle I've seen plenty of high level rexes and a giga or two, whereas mid is very sparing on the carnivores and if they do spawn, in my experience they're lower level. No gigas on mid either.

Having said that, the two eastern isles are much safer than any of the jungle islands. I've only once seen a rex on either of them, generally the worst things that spawn there are carnos and raptors, and those are few and far between.

Tropical Islands. The beaches are pretty much standard beaches, but the interior of the islands only rarely spawn anything dangerous. There might be one carno on the entire island at any given time, even more rarely a Rex might spawn, I've never seen anything else dangerous. The north/north-west corner of the south tropical island is especially good since it's blocked off from the interior by a large cliff, and you almost never get anything dangerous there.

In the jungle starts, even along the beach, there are things like spinos and gigas that can wander by, and the larger interior jungle is constantly spitting out rexes.

There are smaller beach islands between the landmasses which pretty much never even spawn dilos, getting to one of them to build a base is very safe. In the center of the map at the very farthest point to the south is a large island with a volcano with no spawns on it at all, if you want to quickly build a raft and move somewhere not at all dangerous, that's the place.

You'll find raptors at every start in any map. They are standard beach spawns like dilos and dodos. Bola them and kill them or tame them, they are beginner enemies.
