Pulling random numbers from a guide online doesn't make any sense unless you put those specific numbers in the servers config.
Also the primary source for info should be the ark wiki for server setup. Along with the instructions for your server manager of choice (assuming ASM)
Ark server Port Forwarding only requires to use UDP, TCP is not necessary.
It should work to port-forward 7777 and 27015 to the Ark server's local IP address as two separate entries in the router's settings, but you might also have to port-forward the Peer port (7778) - This is automatically set to the Server port + 1 in Ark Server Manager. However in my experience I haven't needed it.
In each individual port-forward, set the same port for external and internal ports. So the Server port might look like this:
- Custom name = Ark Island Server Port
- External port = 7777
- Internal port = 7777
- Protocol = UDP
- IP address = Ark Server's (computer's) local IP address
And make another entry for the Query port using the same method.
Then when trying to connect to the server remotely, you:
- Go to Steam, top left, View, Servers
- Go to the favorites tab
- Add a New Server
- insert the Ark network's external IP address (seen at top of ASM)
- And add the server's Query port at the end, like this: xx.xxxx.xx.xxx:27015
- Add server and it will be in your favorites in Ark
- Custom name = Ark Island Server Port
- External port = 7777
- Internal port = 7777
- Protocol = UDP
- IP address = Ark Server's (computer's) local IP address
And repeat for the Query port 27015.
And repeat for the Peer port 7778 if you can't connect.
Which part is not making sense?
See in this example where it's 4 separate entries:

This is not my screenshot, I have my servers set up without TCP so in this example there's 2 extras. I've also not needed to use the 7778 Peer Port, but in the example they open that port anyway by setting the range from 7777 to 7778.
