What are the best DLC Maps (In your opinion)

Im Wondering if I should buy the 3 dlc bundle or not. I like the look of Abberation and exinction but not sure whether they are worth the money

I loved all the DLCS thou Genesis part 1 I didnt like part 2 was nice.

Since primarily this is a subjective question we cannot answer it for you since we're not you.

Plenty of vids you can watch with game play on those maps. And thus if the aesthetics and following the story canon content of the game for that bundle are important to you then it may be something you're interested in getting and then the same with the genesis bundle.

But again, you have to decide ultimately.

I think, by far the easiest map is Genesis 2. Especially, if you have access to the tek-replikator.

My favorite map of the official ones is Scorched Earth for some reason, however. I realy don't know why. Perhaps, one of the reasons is, because you only need one type of building, since all others will overheat you, especially stone and wood.

But don't woory, the new type, which comes with SE is as hard as stone. You even can use it as a greenhouse (use the sloped ceilings for that.) So you don't need the greenhouse- tier.

If you play SP, I recomment the Oasis at the red Obelisk. Although, there are carnos and the lake has kaprosuchus, you have plenty of space to build. A lake near you and normal temperures. Only the oil veins is a bit wider to go, then. But if you can get a Procoptodon, even that isn't realy an issue.

EVERY area at SE is dangerous. The "easy" ones aren't realy more safer than "medium". There ARE Rexes on the map, but they're pretty scarce. Your real enemies will be the low-level-predators: RAPTORS, Terror-birds, Deaodons, the one or other wolf, and the one or other saber. And If you have real bad luck near the green obelisk, you might run into a thylacoleo. Luckily, there aren't redwood-trees, so they're always on the ground. (They're still very dangerous, though.)

And the second enemy, will be, of course, the enviroment and weather(s). Getting a Jerboa is realy useful. (and even easier to tame than a dodo...)

I'd echo the sentiments of others here - Aberration is something special. My fav Ark map of all the canon maps, and second favourite overall, second only to Ragnarok. It's atmosphere is epic and mysterious, with loads of secrets and hidden nooks and crannies to discover.

Genesis 1 is also pretty good imo. The biomes being split up with walls so you can't explore from one to the other is a shame, but I love how unique and individual each biome is. And again, plenty to explore and discover.

Extinction is...alright...but a little lacklustre tbh. The concept of the city and the biodomes is cool, but in practice it's just not implemented well. None of the buildings can be accessed, the domes are small and don't have many secrets to uncover, and a large percentage of the map is just barren wasteland which you can't spend long in or build in.

Gen 2 is similar, and I wouldn't really recommend that map tbh. Spectacular to look at at first, but once the spectacle wears off there's no caves to explore, no hidden areas to uncover, and 90% of the map is just made up of two huge biomes, making it rather generic pretty fast.

And Scorched is just horrible. I may be biased as I don't like the more hardcore survival elements of extreme heat and weather, nor do I like the aesthetic of deserts. But honestly the map is just really boring. The caves are the best part of it, but there's only three of them. And while a couple of the creatures are cool, those can be found on other maps or even added to any map you like with config settings, so not worth going to that map for them.

aberration is annoying at first, especially with the "easiest" spawn location where you either die to raptors or dehydration. once you get a hazmat suit and a rock drake, it becomes less annoying.
scorched earth is meh. after beating the manitcore, i haven't been back to it
extinction is good for loot drops with the OSD pods. i've found it easier to guard them with my lightning wyvern.
the genesis maps feel too much of a chore to me.
the free maps look a lot better in my opinion. maybe because they had more devotion to aesthetics rather than story. i used to have my main base on ragnarok, but am now thinking of moving it to fjordur
