But i wouldn't start change a bunch of stuff like this or the game will be too easy.
Ptera isn't mean to carry a lot.
An alternative would be a stack mod with weight reduction. Like Stackmemore
put level points into weight or find an argentavis. in some cases an argent is better than a quetz. It's easier to tame and it will half the weight of things like metal, obsidian. crystal etc. it also moves faster than a quetz so you can make one long trip with a quetz or you can make two faster trips with an argent i prefer the latter some times i bring two or three argents and load them up and do one trip.
That said, and has already been said, it's best to look a pteras as scouting mounts. Even a good ptera with leveling focused on weight capacity barely reaches what a good argetavis has to start with (before factoring in their carry bonuses). When I use pteras as early/fast air transport, it is usually with a flock of them on follow and the one I am riding carrying very little.
For tranporting things with a flyer you want an Argy or Quetzal.
Vanilla is 5 (max 150). You could boost this a bit (6-10) would get you higher stats, but KO and taming will take longer.
Higher dinos have better stats. Plus RNG.
Sure they are quicker than argents, tapes or quetz but they aren't really quick.
So you invest alot of time learning the game on single player, you even add mods to make the quality of life better and over all game play.
You begin to build large bases and tame many dinos.
Then its very lonely and you have a choice to leave it all and start over or keep playing single player.
But in answer to your question, there are many mods available on steam workshop you could add to your single player exp. some good, some not so good.
an argentavis even at low levels can carry much more items and weight vs a ptera
quetz are too big and slow , they are also a pain to shoot down and tame by yourself.
if you want really high stat dino's you have to breed them, which is just another headache on its own.
Once you have a Petra though an Argy tame becomes very simple and they will be your go to flyer for everything.
Consider the classic flyers mod to be able to level speed which was nerfed due to PvP explotting.
I use 3 argies, specialising in weight, speed and damage. Between them they take care of everything I need in a flyer.
AntiNODE (by Zen Rowe) speed node is also an option. Get an ascendant one of those and a quetz can cross the entire Ragnarok map in minutes.
