I'd recommend hitting up one of the two western areas instead. The NW is small, and most of the drops there are blue or purple (yellow and red can spawn, but rarely), but there's always a few of them and they respawn very fast. And the SW is the best of all for drops - two of them up at all times, and yellows are pretty common, while reds will show up relatively frequently.
If you don't have a rock drake the 2 drop area is safer and smaller. Perfect for say a strong spino. But it also has this annoying downtime period where around midnight up to 3 am it may stop spawning drops. The 3 drop area doesn't have this problem.
Don't know why the one drop area exists. It is so bad. And one may confuse it for two areas because of its sheer size and having a entrance/exit both in the green zone and in the blue zone.
According to Fandom Gamepedia, there is one and only one supply drop cycling on the Northeast Surface, which means you have to loot the current one appearing on the surface, so the next one can start falling down. For other surface areas, Northwest Surface has 2 supply drop cycling at the same time, while Southwest Surface has 3. It is not like on otehr typical ARKs that more supply drops will appear if you wait. Supply drops on Aberration are treated as Loot Crates.
Due to the size of surface areas, there is a contest of either Northwest or Southwest Surface is the best place to collect supply drops. If you are playing Single Player, you might want to stay at Northwest Surface, since covering the large Southwest Surface area could be a pain.

Btw, how many surfaces are there in total? The wiki is a bit unclear on this... More talk of surface entrances, but for example there are two entrances both leading to north west..
There are 3.
One is big and has an entrance/exit both in the green and the blue zone. And only 1 drop. Its not worth using for the most part.
One is small and has the closest beacon. 2 drops. Its the safest surface, but it may stop spawning drops for 1-3 in game hours sometimes. Your lucky if you get 1 red crate per night. Its perfect if you only have a strong spino/mega/etc.
One is big and has ground fog for part of the night. It has 3 drops and it best done with a rock drake. You may get multi reds in one night.
As soon as you have a rockdrake that is capable. I strongly suggest using the 3 drop location. Specially if you want things like spino saddle blueprints, basilisk blueprints, etc. More reds and yellow drops is more chances for great loot.
