Can babies inherit stats from grandparents?
Having a breeding issue where both mother and father have 278.6 melee damage but babies only have 238 melee damage.

Have been trying to get weight from 1 parent and stamina from the other
All other stats are the same on both mom and dad dinos (well except food but I don't care what that is) but despite both parents having the same melee damage the babies are hatching with less.

Had this problem before except a stat was higher than both parents with no mutation.
Anyone have any good references because this doesn't match with any of the dozens of dino breeding guides I've seen.

In case it's important the stats are for argentavis and I know they are not max level or even high level but it's from the highest birds found on the server so far.

Male/father
Level 45 with 61 points available but no points have been added since it was hatched.
Xp:304450.4/10
Health 1314.3
Stamina 560.0
Oxygen 255.0
Food 3120.0
Weight 547.2
Melee Damage 278.6
Movement Speed 100.0
Torpidity 2621.3
Imprinting 100%

Female/Mother
Level 46 with 61 points available but no points have been added since it hatched.
Xp:30479.3/10
Health 1314.3
Stamina 480.0
Oxygen 285.0
Food 3120.0
Weight 576.0
Melee Damage 278.6
Movement Speed 100.0
Torpidity 2664.5
Imprinting 100%

Babies/Twins/Male&Female
Level 48 with 10 points available but no points have been added since it hatched.
Xp:630.1/10
Health 1314.3
Stamina 560.0
Oxygen 255.0
Food 2600.0
Weight 480.0
Melee Damage 238.0
Movement Speed 100.0
Torpidity 2292.5
Imprinting 100%

Thought Weight and Melee damage would go up after they fully matured but these are final stats fully mature and everything even left them for a bit afterwards but this is it.

I don't understand why the stats didn't get inherited from the parents.

Would be great if someone could shed some light on this for me and anyone else having similar issues.

I'm on XboxONE if that matters.

Might have some factor but they were all imprinted so the melee buff from imprinting should be on all of them unless imprinting only has a chance to up melee but doesn't do it consistently.

Oh you mean the babies came out with that stat after imprint, not before? Ok my bad, I misunderstood then.

Just found out what the deal was.
Apparently when you put a dino in a cryo pod they get a boost to melee and carry weight that remains after you release them.

Parents were podded but babies were not.

Hit dino cap so podded babies now they have same stats as parents.

Deployed them to see if it was just a visual bug on cryo pod ui but stats remained up even after Deployed.

Oh right, this will probably be the imprint update glitch then. When a dino matures after being imprinted, the extra stats it gains from the imprint don't always show up right away. You have to trigger them to update/recalculate by either 1) pumping a level into them, 2) leaving the area then coming back to force a reload, or 3) resetting the dino somehow, like with a cryo as you did, or uploading at the obelisk. It's just a visual bug tho, the stats are still there even if they don't initially show.

Glad you got it sorted^^

Updated with more information.
Hopefully that will help

Imprinting 100%

I think this is your issue. Imprinting ups melee damage, but isn't carried over to children - the babies inherit the base stat before imprint. So the stat you are seeing on the baby is the actual stat the parents have - on the parents it just looks higher because of the imprint modifier.

It may be advisable when breeding for mutations to deliberately NOT imprint any babies until you have the final stats you want on the parents. That way it avoids any possible confusion.

Another thing I just noticed I'm about to check and get back with the results.

Ok thank you.
I didn't know about that bug.
Thank you.
At least now I understand why it does what it does.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and reply.

Knowing about this visual bug will be much more useful instead of thinking somehow they get some kind of cryo buff lol.

No problem I got that impression at first too.
That's why I edited it and added extra details like

Thought Weight and Melee damage would go up after they fully matured but these are final stats fully mature and everything even left them for a bit afterwards but this is it.

I didn't word it well the first time.
