Keep in mind, if you use quetz platform saddle, all the pieces you have built on its platform will be counted into the weight.
I used them sometimes on an old PvE server was pretty fun though it's slow.
Best method is just to have a few Argy and fill em up with as much as they can carry.
Carrying the Ankylo on the other hand should be even better, since it got a 85% reduction for raw metal. this can be done with Argent and Quetz, giving the Quetz a slight advantage here.
The Gasbag would be a excellent solution as well, but requires Extinction DLC as well as the craftable transport balloon.
Depends on the map you're on...an enclosed one with lots of nooks and crannies (such as Aberration, ironically) won't work so well. But if you're on a more flat, open map like SE or Rag, the basil is awesome. One of the fastest tames out there, strong enough to defend itself with ease, and absolutely unbelievable carry weight. It's the ultimate land caravan dino.
I think a Basilisk is a bit advanced for the topic at hand lol
Use an ank focus on damage, and an argent focused on weight.
You can get some insane carry on metal ore this way.
The OP mentioned a quetz, which suggests they have the ability to tame one of those and are thinking of doing so. If they are able to do that, then they certainly are advanced enough to get a megalosaur or karkinos and grab some basic, low level drake eggs for a basilisk. And the actual taming of a basili is easy with the eggs.
