What's the best flyer for transporting metal/mats?
using an argy with pumped up weight, i know they get half weight for metals.
But anything better i should be aiming for?
like i wanna go gather 5k metal/obsidian in 1 run
how good are those quetzee's if thats what there called, those big flyers, that you can put a platform on

Quetz is an alternative, but it doesn't have as useful weight reduction as argent, and to consider how rare they spawn especially in high level, argent is still the best air transport. If one argy is not enough, then bring two or more.

Keep in mind, if you use quetz platform saddle, all the pieces you have built on its platform will be counted into the weight.

gasbag is the ultimate

If you'd rather do it passively you could always try using those balloons to transport metal back to your base.

I used them sometimes on an old PvE server was pretty fun though it's slow.
Best method is just to have a few Argy and fill em up with as much as they can carry.

I second this, a gasbag will get it all there in one trip easy.

Well, i usually carry all the metal in the anky, because the anky has like 75% Reduction and the rest in the argie but quetzles are very slow and it would be better to just use multiple argies... or an anky...

A Quetzal has double the carryweight than an Argentarvis, but since the Argent gets weightreductions of 50% for certain materials, it performs the same for these.

Carrying the Ankylo on the other hand should be even better, since it got a 85% reduction for raw metal. this can be done with Argent and Quetz, giving the Quetz a slight advantage here.

The Gasbag would be a excellent solution as well, but requires Extinction DLC as well as the craftable transport balloon.

Transport balloon? As far as I know my tribeleader filled the gasbag directly and flew it.

2 argents

Just take multiple argents...

Get and Anky and carry it with an Argy. Anks have a huge weight reduction for metal, and they also harvest TONS! Load up as much as you can on him(level his melee) and carry him with an Argy(level weight). I just did a quick run and collected close to 30k.

I'd suggest perhaps consider other options too - ie. land mounts rather than flying. And specifically, a basilisk.

Depends on the map you're on...an enclosed one with lots of nooks and crannies (such as Aberration, ironically) won't work so well. But if you're on a more flat, open map like SE or Rag, the basil is awesome. One of the fastest tames out there, strong enough to defend itself with ease, and absolutely unbelievable carry weight. It's the ultimate land caravan dino.

I think a Basilisk is a bit advanced for the topic at hand lol

As others have mentioned the overloaded anky is a fairly common tactic.
Use an ank focus on damage, and an argent focused on weight.
You can get some insane carry on metal ore this way.

The OP mentioned a quetz, which suggests they have the ability to tame one of those and are thinking of doing so. If they are able to do that, then they certainly are advanced enough to get a megalosaur or karkinos and grab some basic, low level drake eggs for a basilisk. And the actual taming of a basili is easy with the eggs.
