If it's single player or your own server you can put into the game.ini file:

HairGrowthSpeedMultiplier=<value>

and set it to a really high number, so your hair grows extremely slowly. Then you won't have to cut it so often.

Just make sure you store enough hair for s+ if you're using it huh lol

That's where the console command 'SetHeadHairPercent' comes in ;)

One of Ark's Achilles heels, horrible horrible character creation tools. Seems like hairstyles were added as an afterthought and instead of revamping the character creation screen, they did the wonky system they have now, with hairsyles unlocked via steam achievements. It must be hard-coded in, because I've looked for any good character creation mod that would give better character models and hairstyles only to find none.

That said, i do like having the option to change my hair style and color basically at whim. There are just so few hair styles to choose from.

I beg to differ.

And yet they all still look like variants of the same person..... (wich does fit game lore) but us still realy ugly.

not sure about "beauty" there. those look more like Aliens experimenting on human DNA.
XD

Plus I'm sure the armor clipping would be horrific on those!
ZorTheCruel Jul 29, 2019 @ 4:12pm
so silly that the muscle definition doesnt even change, you shrink those arms and they are still veiny, cut, muscular little arms. And when you make the belly crazy fat, he still has a nutty stretched 6-pack abs somehow. LOL

lol yeah that post is a joke, I agree that the character creation needs revamping. However if ever they did do that, I would hope they would keep the option to go to extremes with the sliders, just for a bit of fun.
ZorTheCruel Jul 29, 2019 @ 4:21pm
I figure they have just written it off. It's much easier to redo the character models to give more choices than a whole new DLC map or TLC pass with game balancing and mesh fixing, etc. If it was gonna happen they would've done it by now. :(

Heck they wouldn't even have to touch armor sizing to give more faces and hairstyles to choose from. At least having face models to choose from would give the illusion of it being multiple character models and not just the 2.

Low number, not high number. It's a multiplier, so you want a low number. I use .01 and it works out pretty well for a reasonable growth rate. You could put more zeros in there to make it slower, just don't set it to 0, since Ark tends to not handle that well for settings and goes with the default value instead.

I was talking more in line of a chrome dome, spite shine, mirror polish, completely hairless but slowing the growth speed would help if i could find it in the game.ini file, i have looked and i did not find HairGrowthSpeedMultiplier the only thing that started with a H i found is a HarvestExp Multiplier.

You have to add the line yourself

With or without the elbows: HairGrowthSpeedMultiplier=<0.1> or HairGrowthSpeedMultiplier=0.1?
