Use a whip, it makes life easy solo farming, whip the Anky to the next node, same with Doed. You can also dump an entire inventory full of metal next to the forge, whip it up, then transfer all into the forge.
Bad thing about mods for dinos, when you get rid of mod, dino usually disappears.

The current Creatures/Structures in-game are designed for this purpose exactly!
The Parasaur Mech is, well a Parasaur that can harvest Metal just like the Ankylo can and reduces the weight in it's inventory. It also has an Auto-Smelt function that you can switch to ON and smelt your Metal as you go. As well as a flamethrower secondary attack.
The Quetzal Mech is like the Parasaur in that it also harvests Metal just like the Ankylo and reduces the weight as well. It also has the Auto-Smelt feature too!
The Stego Mech is a mobile Cargo-Hauler, auto-pulls all resources from it's follow target and greatly reduces the weight of the Resources it's pulls. It's also designed to provide a Health, Weight and Speed boost to nearby allies.
If you pair the Parasaur with the Stego you can set them up in a "Follow Train" to farm nearby resources without weighing down your Parasaur too quickly.
If you set the Stego to follow your Quetzal and carry it with you while you farm it can help extend the carry weight of your Quetzal too by reducing your load even more!
Yea but the doed stops swinging when it's weight is half full, from what I remember. I assumed that is why the OP asked about the doed. That's why I mentioned it anyway.
