Why do y'all like really high dino levels?
Just curious--I generally like to play where the max (wild) dino level is ~90 so there's a more "compressed" experience and you don't have wee little trash dinos walking around level 150 (or more) monsters.

But I know I'm in the minority so I'd like to hear why people enjoy playing with a much higher level cap for dinos.

Just because we can

Because it s a bigger challenge..also you can have ur own dinos at a higher level so they re better

Don't think it's a preferance, I just haven't ever felt the need to alter the default difficulty so have always just left it be.

I'd have to agree with the OP here. I do think that it's worth upping the levels to 150 max, as that does increase the challenge, and the risk vs. reward of the game. However at lvl 150 almost any dino can one-shot you anyways, so going any higher than that is pointless. If you get munched by a 150 rex or a 150000 rex, you're still gonna die in a short space of time.

I agree with OP, I played a while with max wild level 600 and that made me get tired of the game. Not because its harder but because 99% of the dinos sucks, let me explain why:

Im gonna assume 100% taming efficiency just to make it simple

Max lvl 150
Tame a 150 dino, it will be 225.
Tame a 135 dino, it will be 202.
23 points into all the stats arent a huge difference. So you can tame 135, 140, 145 and 150.

Max lvl 600
Tame a 600 dino, it will be 900
Tame a 560 dino, it will be 840.
60 points into all the stats makes a huge difference. So you can tame only 580 and 600.

That made me spend most of my time killing dinos waiting for one spawn to tame. Got bored and started to do destroywilddinos and check s+ transmitter.

Do that for few days without finding one dino that you want to tame and bam you wont wanna play ark anymore.

Edit: they should add a wild dino range, ie assuming max lvl 150 you could set it to spawn only dinos from 130 to 150, or only 150 if you're nitpick.

Some do it because they love to see the big numbers when they attack. we've got ours set to 300 max level(Wyverns go to 360 I believe) We originally did it because it gives a little bit more of a challenge, but now we've added Primal Fear and those vanillas are nothing compared to what you get from the PF mod.

Higher levels = God Mode = seeing dinos with 32,000,000 dps one shot kills on end game bosses makes everyone feel good.

is it OP? Sure, but since we all start at Beach Bob levels when the game started, its nice to be omnipotent.

But that game-play isn't for everyone, so let people play like they want to, its not up to us to decide what game style anyone else is supposed to play.

Exactly this. Each to their own when it comes to personal preference.

Higher level dinos really dont make it harder lol. It might make it take a bit more to knock one out but once its tamed you are right back where you were before with lower lvl dinos. Increasing dino level does not increase difficulty.
ive never understood it myself either. ive always played with lvl 150 as max due to default reasons and i like it that way. any higher and i feel like id be stuck relying on dinos to survive which doesnt make it any more difficult just makes you weaker in comparison. if you want a challenge, go fight some dinos without a mount. now thats what i call entertaining

It makes taming them more difficult, like you said. you contradicted yourself

No I am sorry but something taking a bit more to knockout doesn't make it more difficult lol..Time it takes does not equal difficult. Nothing contradicting there. Just because something takes longer to do doesn't make it more difficult..just makes it more grindy.

@Cody VX I did a no tame server for awhile with lvl 800 wild dinos. It was interesting to say the least to find a place to setup. Once you found your spot and setup though it wasn't to bad. Was able to kill alphas from on top of rocks or the back of a boat.

it makes you spend that much more time in the field taming, giving more of a chance of something/someone to wander in on you. It makes your need to gather more supplies, cook more foods/kibble giving an over all increase of challenge. I can see your point once its tamed, the curve is there again. Some people like that, some people like the lower levels like Cody said, to actually hunt and kill dinos by yourself without dino help.

All in all, its up to the player, what they want ect.

yes but time spent doing someting doesn't mean it is diffucult lol. The only thing "difficult" about that is hoping you don't get bored out of your mind before reaching your end goal lol. But yes to each their own. I am just not one to associate difficulty and time it takes to do something unless it is a timed event where you only have so much time to complete a task and the time given isn't a lot.
