Where to spend stat points on PVE vs PVP
What is best to do on PVE? And on PVP? Is melee damage any useful if in the late game you use mostly rifles?

PVE I always run about 400-450hp (for cave runs), 150-200 Stam, 124ish speed, 40-50fort and rest weight. Not sure why you would need a lot of speed in pve, that's more a pvp thing (think pvp runs like 185 or something crazy). Pve you're almost always on a dino anyways. Melee and speed, some ox is good for starting out, but after you get dinos it's less useful.

what is a decent/somewhat fortitude?

i run with 450 HP's on either (survive any fall)

I play almost exclusivley PvE and I always go for 30 fort, gives you great temperature resistance in all but extreme weather events. If you tame an otter it reduces the requirement for that a bit though. Weight is also one of my highest priorities, as is oxygen as I like to be able to swim fast and stay down a long time.

I tend to go for stamina over speed or HP, because if you can run for long enough you can usually run past a nearby herbivore which distracts the chaser's attention. And also I'm on mounts most of the time so I don't take the hits, my pets do. I do spend a few spare points in HP later on though, and a little bit in speed, but not much as I find too much makes it hard to navigate around my base.

Hardly played any PvP, but from stories I've heard on these forums one of the best builds seems to be to just focus exclusivley on speed and melee and KO ppl with a club. That might not be as effective now speed has been nerfed though, idk...

For me on PvE: 450 hp, 400 wght
rest speed. If you understand the maths you will understand fort is useless for temp control.

Late game you make custom food and have high quality fur, that sorts out temp problems and hunger / hp issues due to being cold

Since PvP often means switching Servers too,
60 fortitude to be a bit prepared for all enviroments.

I value weight not that much since you can bring dinos for loot.
During buld phase is another story.

It depends a bit how you wanna play,
there s usually the speed vs hp side in PvP.
( speed side changed a bit since club nerf and gliding suits )

Melee does work for sure for knocking out people.

It s an arms race though,
fortitude counters torpor ^^

For PvE these numbers worked good for me:
350 hp ( jump from Behemoth Gate without dying)
x Stam ( i prefer a bit oxy but depends on map )
x Oxy ( pretty useless in SE / Aberration )
350 weight ( thats kinda magical number to be able to craft simple stuff like dinogates efficiently )

60 Fortitude
absolutely good number - in most cold regions ( even sunny snow days ) a simple fur pants is enoug,
the Fortitude counters bites and hits from snakes and scorpions a bit,
makes it easier to survive in deep water,
let torpor decrease quicker ++

While I agree with custom food and the ability to have hq fur, I play mostly on rag which has wild temperature changes across zones, with my fort I wear flak and hop from desert to snow without death. I absolutely noticed the difference when I respeced without fort, and ended up specing back in. I also don't get surprise knocked out by a snake or scorp.

1 Fort = 2 insulation
50 insulation negates 3 degrees celcius

I guess whether it is worth it or not is subjective but for me it is a terrible waste of stat points.

Not sure where you get the stat weight, not saying you're wrong at all, but my experience with what it deflects ingame is noticible.
I usaully go with a balance of around 300 hp, some good stamina, like 110 movement speed, and 400 melee damage for good tanking if needed and high damage output. you dont need to run from things if you kill them ;) oh and like 250 weight

Thanks. Where do I find the math for the fortitude? I usually decide upon the math but I couldn't find it...

2 fortitude
- Prevents Troodons knocking you out on one hit.

145 speed
- Can outrun most wild dinos.

350 weight
- Solo looting/crafting.

150 stamina
- Optional. if move speed instead of stam =152.5 speed.

320 health
- It's enough to prevent "broken bones" in most situations.

This is for a level 84 character.

Don't need alot more health as armor durability keeps you alive.
For level ups after level 84 depends on your play style.
169 speed -or- 450 health -or- 500 weight, or a mix of all is possible if you're lvl 100.
