Black screen, please help.
I have read some discussions on black screens but could not find anything related to mine. I have been playing Ark for about a year and half now with no real issues, until about three weeks ago. I started getting black screens while in game. My monitor will go black (no signal) and when this happens i will hear a sound like one would unplug a "plug n play" device, PC stays on but nothing happening. Have to restart to fix. My friends say it would seem as if i disconnected so this tells me it might be some Ark problem?

Things I already tried to solve this problem (But did not help).
-Swap out monitor
-Update GPU drivers
-Verify game file
-Uninstalled some other recent apps

My PC specs if it helps...
GTX 970
12gig DDR3 RAM
i3 3220

That is not a ARK issue, it is a hardware issue, could be motherboard but can't tell for sure.

Try other high end games, does this occur with them as well?

Games such as DOOM 4 or Far cry 4.

Had this issue with a colleague who sadly had to replace his board.

By the way maybe get an I5 or upgrade that cpu if possible, it is probably bottlenecking your GPU.

No problem, it is definitely a hardware issue, could be the PCiE x16 slot that your GPU is connected to, in which case It warrants a motherboard replacement.

I'll do some hardware swaps to test...
Thanks.

It sounds like the video driver has crashed and windows is attempting to restart it, that's why you hear the device connected noise.

That could be down to anything from a hardware fault to corrupt drivers.

First thing I would do is run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode to completely clean and remove you current drivers and then reinstall them.

your gpu is on its way out
you need a new one

Sounds like this to me. Sometimes that noise will sound when your driver crashes. Do you ever check the windows event logger to see if there were any errors after rebooting?

Also, do you watch your GPU temps? Is your GPU overclocked?

I do not overclock and my temp is just fine around 50-60 degrees. I'll try the driver unistaller thank. Will reply again if it worked or not...

Just wanted to make sure on the temps and overclocking, I wasn't saying that was your issue specifically. Just if you had overclocked or don't watch your temps, maybe something was going on there is all.

But ya try a clean install with DDU like WarmedxMints suggested.

So.... I have an actual answer for you that can get you immediately playing the game again.

Startup ARK with "reset resolution", once you get into the launch window go to options and make sure you have 'windowed/fullscreen' enabled and not just fullscreen. It's a bug, the game doesn't always like being put in fullscreen.

If you haven't tried already, turn "sky quality" all the way down. That's works for some people, myself included. And it doesn't matter how powerful your computer is, the game just isn't fully optimised. My old 2.2g quad core, with a Radeon 7something (only benched around 900) could run sky quality maxed out. My newer i7, with a GTX 1070 and 16 gigs of DDR4 will have the same problem as yours if I have sky quality turned up.
