Why is there an ark clone (Dark and Light)?
While browsing through youtube I came across this ARK-ripoff. They didn't even try to hide the fact that they use the same buggy engine with bad performance, creatures getting stuck and so on. Many menues and descriptions are just copied 1:1.
It annoys me that they dare to charge money for a game they basically just stole. Can't the ARK devs do something about it? Sue the hell of them or something like that?

Cause both are owned by the same company.
You want a clone? How about the same exact Ark game but free but in Chinese.
Its what happened after Snail Gaming, a Chinese company bought WC.
They used the majority assets of Ark and made D&L

Let me put this in a way you will understand...after killing a creature harvest it, when it ends it will make a sound while the creature vanishes...listen to it.

It's not an ARK clone.... it's an ARK derivative.... and having just bought the game today, I can tell you it has alot of potential...... it has kindof a feel that is like a combination of ARK and old school MMORPGs like Runescape, or Ultima Online..... since EQ Next was cancelled... something like this might be just what it takes to fill in for a while. The game even has human NPC vendors, and could potentially have human NPC quest givers if they decide to go that route.
It's definitely worth the $25 if you like ARK, but also want to play in a fantasy setting.
I didn't knew dark and light was from the same company, good to know, I was literally 6 days away from buying it, not doing it now.

Ignorance isn't cute.

Wouldn't recommend to buy it now.
I did an refund cause there is only third person and servers are super fragile.

They both owned by the same company so they ain't going to do anything about it. Besides clones of other popular games are normal, we've gotten some really good games out of clones of others.

And i just want to be more versions of ARK. Love the mechanics and the engine :D

"was"? Don't really know what decade you're living in, but it's still one of the most popular and most played survival sandbox games on Steam...... so what's with this "was" nonsense?

How embarrassing for you...

Dark and Light and Ark are both owned by Snail Games.

Both use UE4. More importantly both have been using some of the same piecemeal studios to do animations and other work for them under Snail's umbrella.

No one ripped off ark. Think on both Ark and DnL having the same common ancestors.

Irony is D&L is much older than ARK but just being re-released after being a huge flop 1st time around.

So the real question is why is there a D&L clone ?

The entire gaming industry is clones why are people so surprised.

No doubt thinking about the flyer nerf. Without speed on their flyers they don't see anything else worth traveling on in the game. All potential lost.
I guess these guys never played a game and postponed getting a flyer as long as possible to get a completely different experience, where you actually have to deal with the environment, not just fly above it.

Or maybe he's refering to the game going "away" from primitive only playstyles, even though we had futuristic Tek in the world from the very start.
