ARK: Survival Evolved

Statistiche:
How do you survive in Scorched Earth?
It's my first time there and It looks very good but the heat is extreme I can't survive a single day. I can't find any water source/oceans etc. aren't there any in this world?. Where do you normally start as new character? I've tried every (easy) option but got killed instantly every time either from a dino or from the heat. This map/world isn't for noobs right?

Water sources are few. Oasis and little depressions in the rocks with water(that you can build later a well on). Spam eating berries and cactus sap too helps. SE is pretty hard to start for most when starting. You can opt to change settings in single player to make it easier or SE servers with easier settings unofficial server wise(where the majority of ark players play is on unofficial servers of various things).

Also remember there are unofficial maps that have the desert biomes and other areas all together. Ragnarok will eventually have the same when completed and all the respective dinos too(at least it has mantis wyverns etc now though).
Water is super scarce on scorched earth, there are like three or four small bodies of water on the map. There are wells on the ground that you can get water from and you can also run up to a blue jug bug and harvest water from it. I would recommend unlocking the tent and building one asap. No this map is not for newbies but you can definitely make a foothold for sure.

I started on SE as well. One of the easy areas has water nearby, go downhill into the ravine kind of area.
Otherwise build a box, store anything of use in it, and run around and die until you get an idea of the are you are in.
Once you become familiar with a spawn reigon, it's not so bad.
I reccomend investing some skills into fortitude it helps you survive the heat/cold and even allows to wear flak armour at higher fortitude levels
Thanks for the tips guys! I do appreciate that. Well, I've bought a server for me and friend and we've tried Ragnarok first but unfortunately, It's bugged as hell. Those new dino types are spawning in mass and are trying to kill other dinos which they can't for some reason... also, if they hit your 1 time you're dead through their poison but that's not all. Even if you die they'll keep attacking your base until It's destroyed... at least that was in my scene. Some other dinos are flying around and have corrupt animations etc. The world itself however, is extremely beautifull...

No, it isn't for noobs. It is made intentionally to be harder to survive in. Although, I will give you a few tips in order to survive better. I remember also going in unprepared for what I was going to face. Down in the canyon is one of your best shots. Down there, it has multiple water sources, some getting very big. However, beware of kaparosuchus and baryonx, as I believe they spawn down there now. Also beware of raptors, near my base down in the canyon, there was a massive herd of morrelotops. A few ankylos and those big armidillo things. They quickly murder any raptors usually. I would try to find a spawn point of morrelotops. And you can go into the sources of water (with causion) to beat the heat. Building a thatch hut as fast as you can would also be good to protect you from sand storms and the heat. Another good base location that I found is near the canyon, around a quarter of the way to the northwest end. It is close to that mountain that is standing away from the rest, close to one of the caves. There should be a water vein and some good trees and cacti.

I have also found that punching a cactus, though it does do damage, will actually give you more water. Tame a jerboa as fast as you can, because they will give you warning against storms.

As a new player buying a server is a bigger chanllenge that actually surviving on SE. Truly it is. The options and settings learning curve is extremely steep and without knowledge of the game extensively, it becomes worse.

It sounds like you're also trying to use modded content which if its poorly made or hasn't been updated in a long time or you ordered it wrong, can break a server too.

If you want a server that is relatively stable that has all the current biomes in it, then the Volcano map would probably be a decent enough choice.

Make sure you have your settings very very carefully set(including ini files) so that you have everything well balanced. Also make sure you decide what your playing goals are too.

Otherwise the average new owner ditches their server in 2-3 months, worse for the new players who dont know ark well. It takes alot of stamina to be a server owner in ark.
@M.R.Smith

Thanks! I didn't know you can get water from cactus yet that's cool and I've found those places with a little water source I think.. however, you're rigt with the raptors there.

@retsam1

Thanks for your thoughtfulness!. I'm actually just new to SE but played the normal one like center and island already before sorry that I didn't mentioned It. I do know the game mechanics and settings but I'm still a noob I think, especially since It's bin a while I've played this game. And the server is just for me and some friends. Personally, I think the settings are pretty much easy going and self explaining so thankfully, I haven't had any problems with It so far. However, I don't know what goals we have currently... we're just playing around with everything. Maybe boss killing.. Is it even possible with just 3 people?.

Ps: Can you walk in this game Is there a button for this?. I mean like normal walking not running. Crouching Is a thing but I think walking especially in SE would be nice. I can't remember correctly but I think there was a walking function in this game... or I'm wrong.

Put a few points into water and a bunch in fortitude as well as wearing cloth armor until you can get desert gear . Taming a morrella tops helps a ton too at the start of SE .
The map isn't for new players you are correct, but its just a matter of knowing where to get things.

Contrary to the comments thus far, water is everywhere. water bugs, hitting cactus with a pick, water wells. Between these 3 sources it is difficult to die from thirst and then you also have some fixed bodies of water around the map and at the obelisk.

Heat: First thing to do is build a 1x1 thatch house and go in there for heat waves or extreme heat. Very early game you will be doing most of your work at night, dawn and dusk while spending the middle of the day inside.

Do not build wood and stone structures as they increase heat. Some people end up building dino pens from stone but the area where you "live" should be thatch or adobe and nothing else.

You should be able to use a bola on all of the dangerous dinos in the beginner areas so once you unlock that, raptors, terror birds, sabers and direwolves are no longer a threat. Until then, a few deaths may happen.

If you are using the key board then it should just be the W A S D keys, W for forward and S for backward. And you use the mouse for shifting the direction the camera is facing. Hope you have fun playing, need anymore tips and just ask me.
@Cobretti

Thanks a bunch for the tips!

I meant actually a normal walking function instead of jogging :P after some research I found out that It doesn't exist which Is sad but not that bad. And thanks for the offer to help!
What if you start at level one.
Quick question... how to tame with this new menu?. I've knocked a trike out but I can't find any button in this menu to feed it with naco berries.
Try to hold out and keep dying until you can make adobe buildings and desert cloth. After that it gets much simpler. Taming a parasaur or a dire wolf will also really help with water problems.
Also you force feed just by pressing E on items in the tame's inventory.
