Also remember there are unofficial maps that have the desert biomes and other areas all together. Ragnarok will eventually have the same when completed and all the respective dinos too(at least it has mantis wyverns etc now though).
Otherwise build a box, store anything of use in it, and run around and die until you get an idea of the are you are in.
Once you become familiar with a spawn reigon, it's not so bad.
I have also found that punching a cactus, though it does do damage, will actually give you more water. Tame a jerboa as fast as you can, because they will give you warning against storms.
As a new player buying a server is a bigger chanllenge that actually surviving on SE. Truly it is. The options and settings learning curve is extremely steep and without knowledge of the game extensively, it becomes worse.
It sounds like you're also trying to use modded content which if its poorly made or hasn't been updated in a long time or you ordered it wrong, can break a server too.
If you want a server that is relatively stable that has all the current biomes in it, then the Volcano map would probably be a decent enough choice.
Make sure you have your settings very very carefully set(including ini files) so that you have everything well balanced. Also make sure you decide what your playing goals are too.
Otherwise the average new owner ditches their server in 2-3 months, worse for the new players who dont know ark well. It takes alot of stamina to be a server owner in ark.
Thanks! I didn't know you can get water from cactus yet that's cool and I've found those places with a little water source I think.. however, you're rigt with the raptors there.
@retsam1
Thanks for your thoughtfulness!. I'm actually just new to SE but played the normal one like center and island already before sorry that I didn't mentioned It. I do know the game mechanics and settings but I'm still a noob I think, especially since It's bin a while I've played this game. And the server is just for me and some friends. Personally, I think the settings are pretty much easy going and self explaining so thankfully, I haven't had any problems with It so far. However, I don't know what goals we have currently... we're just playing around with everything. Maybe boss killing.. Is it even possible with just 3 people?.
Ps: Can you walk in this game Is there a button for this?. I mean like normal walking not running. Crouching Is a thing but I think walking especially in SE would be nice. I can't remember correctly but I think there was a walking function in this game... or I'm wrong.
Contrary to the comments thus far, water is everywhere. water bugs, hitting cactus with a pick, water wells. Between these 3 sources it is difficult to die from thirst and then you also have some fixed bodies of water around the map and at the obelisk.
Heat: First thing to do is build a 1x1 thatch house and go in there for heat waves or extreme heat. Very early game you will be doing most of your work at night, dawn and dusk while spending the middle of the day inside.
Do not build wood and stone structures as they increase heat. Some people end up building dino pens from stone but the area where you "live" should be thatch or adobe and nothing else.
You should be able to use a bola on all of the dangerous dinos in the beginner areas so once you unlock that, raptors, terror birds, sabers and direwolves are no longer a threat. Until then, a few deaths may happen.
Thanks a bunch for the tips!
I meant actually a normal walking function instead of jogging :P after some research I found out that It doesn't exist which Is sad but not that bad. And thanks for the offer to help!
Also you force feed just by pressing E on items in the tame's inventory.
