How far?
Dunno. One of out bases has an inner wall 40 fence foundations wide. Dinos at the far wall will not help a dino at the other wall.
Edit: I stand corrected, as a tribe member just pointed out to me. It is 36 foundations wide, because 2 feeding troughs cover the whole courtyard. (it's called "planning ahead").
I know this conflicts with what a lot of people say about stances, but I can only speak from my own experience, and in that experience that's the way it works. I've had dinos set on neutral sit by passivley staring at me while I've been mauled to death by enemies. And I've had bodyguard dinos following me while I was mounted that payed precisely no heed when my mount was attacked while on neutral. Having them on attack my target, however, will always get them to defend allied players and dinos, regardless of whether the dino's owner is directly threatened or not.
All I can suggest is experiment and see what works for you.
And yes, to everyone else, I know this posy is probably not what you experience in your game...I've been told that many times already and I respect it. I don't know why my game differs to yours, but I can say for a certainty that differ it does.
