Can we get rid of the unnecessary blood?

Blood IS necessary. Without it you would be dead.... or wouldn't be at all! :P

No blood option is pretty standard thing though, ARK seems to be missing lots of those "standard" things.

Yeah ark is missing some polish for sure... but as for blood being necessary in ark... the animations are pretty lame... so whatever.

By saying that blood is unnecessary I mean the overlay is fine but the amount of blood that comes off when you hit something. For me THIS blood is too much and unnecessary for by the time your dead you already lost 3x the amount of blood your body could hold!

but the blood overlay is a huge indicator of how close to death the target is... this is alot more immersive than a hitpoints bar or floating numbers everywhere

I disagree..... no immersion there. Or do you find it immersive to hit a Bronto (any dino would fit but the bigger the crazier it looks) in the leg or tail and see him bloodied... EVERYWHERE?

i've been hoping they'd add some blood options (off/less/hpbars instead etc). Not that i care, but my 6 yr old niece really liked watching me play ark until i started mashing a phiomia with a spear. She's not traumatized or anything, but she didn't much like seeing cute things spurting that much blood and getting that messed up.

The overlay is the indicator (approx how much health) but I mean the blood that comes of if you hit, say, a dilo with a spear

There is an option to turn off the blood damage overlays. In options, 2nd column, 3rd item under the sliders. "Blood Damage Overlays" its a checkbox.

like when you stand too close to a refining forge and blood splats everywhere just because you got burn? yeah, i wouldnt mind a little less blood there.

I feel the same way about this, and somebody in a thread way back saved my day. He posted a link to a few files which, if added to the ShooterGame folder, remove the splatter or tone it down a lot.

Extract the file, then copy the ShooterGame folder that you extracted and paste it into the ARK folder in your Steam directory. Any time it asks you for permission to 'merge folder' or 'overwrite file', click yes. Then once it's pasted in, boot up the game and the splatter should be greatly reduced, if not removed completely.

In future they will be adding more shipping quality blood and gore like blood on trees when you punch them, blood sprays, clouds and drops and blood spreads when they react to the ground. Also dinos converting into a Boney and bloody mess giving out slices of bloody meat all over.
