Brightness issue...
Okay so loaded into Extinction and everything is extremely bright, can barely play. So far I have: 1) check monitor setting, drivers, and ingame setting.
2) tested on another map (Island, Rag and SE) no issues
3) Verified game files
4) optimized game using Nvidia

I am now out of ideas, anyone can help me?

restart ark, i had the same problem and this fixed it for me. i went nearly blind when i spawned in sanctuary. had to reduce gamma to <1 to see anything besides white.

Through tedius trial and error, I found out that removing -sm4 -d3d10 from your launch options will likely fix your problem at the cost of the performance benefit they provided. You could also press Tab and enter gamma 1 or so, but then your ui will also be too dark so pick your poison.
thanks abstract i was going nuts :D

Where do i find the launch options? to change that?

1 isn't the only gamma option. If it is too dark for you go to 1.2 or 1.4 I run at 1.4 It's mildly dark but the colors are much better. The point is, you can set it to your own liking

I have found temporary solution. After loading the map, player should store all items and armor anywhere (mount, wault, etc), somehow die, and respawn. Brightnes sshall be abut normal.

Unfrotunately, this fix lasts about hour, after that "age of brightness" begins again

I feel like it has something to do with the snow owl's C ability. Maybe the people afflicted with this bug can confirm they used one?

Just wanted to share an alternate fix. Mine was working fine for singleplayer until I happened to add an additional mod. Then it died for some reason. If you change the Gamma settings in GameUserSettings.ini to the below, it looks much better and is bearable. The below will also still allow you to read/see the menus like the main game, which you can't when using the gamma command.

Gamma1=1.750000
Gamma2=2.250000

It can be found in the following location for singeplayer.
YourDriveNumber:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

I’ve been having this issue reoccur as well. I thought I fixed it but it seems random. I never know if I’m going to be blinded by a super nova or able to have a great time playing for hours.

I noticed something. If i log into the game during night time, the game is super bright but it's ok during day time. And i'm using -sm4 (i can't play without it, my pc is crap).

i also have that brightness problem on others map especially on the center (the island and ragnarock are "ok")
