Anyone else find the Chibi dinos ugly?
I think i was expecting something cute and cartoony looking. I was disappointed when i spawned my first one (a carno chibi) and saw it was just the baby carno from breeding with a normal dino texture and a hugely distorted head.(kinda like the absurd models you can get in the character generator) Do any of them actually look cute to you all? (if so, which one, and I may try that one)

Honestly it kind-of triggers me on how some dinos already don't look right on their proportions (like the short stubby Megalodon and mega-fat Mosa)

I love the chibi Bloodstalker myself, but the rest.....

Ok, well I guess i'll have to experiment with some of the ones you two suggested. I have at least 18 from chasing raptor-claus a bunch yesterday in my solo game, as I had the day off. Many are duplicates of each other though. Luckily they are in practically every raptor-claus present.

So far my best looking one is the thyla, it looks just like a tasmanian devil :p

Chibi male deer is nice when you mount some dinos because it makes you look like you got the horns hehehe

I played on The Island map last night to see the snowy re-texture of everything (mixed feelings on that, it makes everything look low-resolution even though my settings are high/epic) and I happened to get 4 Allo chibis in my raptor-claus loot, so i tried one of those and it was wonderful!
It is cute and i got a great color scheme (Dark blue skin and black armor plates). I'm loving it.

@dingdongdanger I guess i was looking for cute vs derp, to each his own :)

Yeah... I find them kind of ugly overall too. I understand they couldn't just put versions of the baby or mini adults, but I find all the derpy ones so far are repulsively derpy and not cutely derpy. And the ones that stay closer to the original that play with size are the most tolerable to me.

Then again for a guy who almost always carries a shield, even underwater unless he is using a 2 handed weapon, they are extra useless. I have to give up functionality to rank this up to get my extra levels? And I am glad I can't look them in the face? Oh sign me up. :steamfacepalm:

I do find, myself, almost all chibi-dinos ugly. They look like, they are just rescaling of the original model, with an oversized head.

IMHO, the devs should review the models entirely. The chibis should be a bit more cartoonish, colorful. They shouldshow that they are of magic or mechanical origin.

Maybe, using the models from pixark, with a bit of work, they could look great.

I think they're intended to be 'funny' rather than 'cute'. Also cute is subjective, and I'm sure there are some people out there who find even the oddest chibi cute in some way.

For me - yeah, not all of them work imo, but some of them are adorable. Like the wolf one, for example:

I'm starting to think Steam needs a "This thread is X months / years old" warning when people try to post on old threads. Or an automatic lock after certain amount of inactivity.

Oh yeah, look at that date. With it being bumped to the front page and there being so many new threads right now with the free game, I didn't think to check.

If it's just a casual discussion topic or asking for help with something I don't think it's a big deal though, personally. If newbie players make new threads asking about things they're often bombarded with 'Use the search function!' and 'We've had this thread so many times already!' anyway, so they can't win - they're told off for bumping, they're told off for making new topics. What are they supposed to do?

Bumping threads at least keeps the discussion in one topic, instead of having lots of different ones.
