Making cryopods permanent
We play on a small private server. Is there something we can do to remove the timer from the cryopods we got from the drop? A script or something

If you have the engram, you can craft a cryofridge which supposidly charges them.

Just make a cryo fridge, it recharges them in real time as above post said, with the timer on them being so long and the fridge, they kind of are permanent.

Plus, if you are on extinction and have high quality dinos, you can pretty much get a infinite amount from drop pods (or whatever they are called) (OSD?)

EDIT: Orbital Supply Drops*

Only issue with the cryofridge is that it's tek tier. Be nice if cryopods could be recharged in a standard fridge, albeit at a much slower rate.

Agree with you, but crypods are tek aswell so it sorta blends well. And it wouldn't make sense to have a primitive/modern teir cryopod.

No need to have a modern tier cryopod. Don't let players craft the pods until they have a tek replicator, that's fine the way it is. But let them use ones which they get from orbital supply drops, just nerf them so they aren't nearly as effective as they would be with tek tier (ie. taking a much longer time to recharge in a normal fridge).

Cryopods were designed as a way to reduce a tribe's tame limit and prevent the need for huge, lag-inducing bases with hundreds of dinos. But locking them to endgame tier completely breaks that design.

Another alternative, if having them recharge very slowly in a fridge is not an option - make the cryofridge craftable at supply drops like the replicator, but reduce it's level requirement and have it not require any boss battles to unlock. That way midgame tribes could still make use of it in a more 'lore friendly' way, and it wouldn't lose it's purpose of reducing lag/tame caps.

Sure, I think it would be fair to be able to learn the cryofridge at max level without bosses (105?). But it would kinda be a little odd to have the regular fridges act as a charging station. Also, Raptor Claus is possibly creating some confusion to how to keep cryopods, as people without ext. will not be able to keep the pods.

The theory behind it would be that, while it's not specifically designed for that purpose, the fact that it's an extremely cold environment allows the tek to maintain and recouperate it's cryogenic control. However because it's not designed for it, it only works at a much slower rate than a purpose-built tek structure. Would make sense to me.

But either way, I'm thinking of it more from a game balance point of view than a lore perspective. The whole cryo system was brought in to fix an ongoing issue with the game, which is a legitimate issue which does need fixing. However in it's current implementation, the fix doesn't really work, and so the issue remains. So one way or another, the issue does need to be solved somehow.

Thank you. We haven't done orbital drops but were not so far off. They've just been so useful

When I transferred pods which I got from Ex to another map, their timer halved, even if they didn't have dinos in them.

EDIT: Nevermind, the fridge was just out of reach of the power. Added another outlet and now it is working off normal electricity.

grrrr....I finally unlocked a Tek Replicator so I can create cryofridge. I placed the cryofridge next to other electric generator-powered machines and it says unpowered. I checked the wiki and it says "Can be powered by either a Tek Generator or from an Electrical Outlet being powered by either a Windturbine or Electrical generator."

Has this changed and now requires a Tek Generator?

If it's listed as unpowered it's probably not within range of the outlet
