Question about disabling engrams
So me and a few friends were wanting to host an exploration/treasure hunting based server on Abberation where only low level engrams are learnable (like only stone tools and thatch buildings) - and you have to unlock all higher tier saddles/tools etc through loot drops and dungeon loot.

so my question to you guys is, if i disable an engram in the main menu will it disable the ability for the BP to drop from loot crates?

Also taking any other suggestions on how to achieve this style of gameplay, i already thought of reducing engram points drasically but then you still can spam mindwipe tonics and learn all the high level engrams with little effort

Grab the Survival Plus mod. That will give you what you want and a whole lot more.

Downside is it locks out all Tek and Electricity.
But you can work around that

Thanks! ill check it out right now, and see if it is what we're looking for
but while we're on the topic of mods - are there any that can disable mindwipe tonics? it cant be disabled in the main menu since its a recipie not an engram.

Survival plus completely overhauls the taming process.... i mean .... utterly.

I dont know if i would recommend it for Aberration.

yeah i dont think its the solution, we want the vanilla game basically - but without being able to unlock high level engrams except through loot drops / cave treasure hunting

I havent considered if removing an engram would remove any BP counterpart....

"IF" it does, wich i would assume it does not, but if it does.... instead of removing them... you could change the level requirement so its too high to aquire.

thats a good idea! it should work i theory but i dont know about in practice

i say that because i'd have to go into the game.ini files and type out a line like this for almost every engram in the game :( it probably would take several hours of coding since thats like 600+ engrams

How is that any different to doing individual hide engram lines lol...

Cut and paste and edit the engram path.

True, and i dont have to disable every engram in the game! if i just make certain key engrams (like storage box, smithy, wooden foundation etc.) too high to learn then it effectively blocks all engrams afterwards since the storage box is needed for preserve bin, then refrigerator etc. saddly i still have to do every saddle manually.

but still its going to be a lot of coding, i better get started... if yall come up with any other solutions let me know!

Yeaaaaaahhh, survival plus and the harder maps DO NOT MIX. Survival plus is basically balanced around...making The Island a difficult place to play. You pretty much can kiss a harder start (like in a desert/snow biome) goodbye, and anything more exotic than that (radiation) just...isn't likely to play well with survival plus at all. It will not play terribly well with even The Center due to a combination of leeds and super duper duper expensive rafts/boats and a lack of a good option for crossing water (assuming they haven't scaled back on that at least a little bit...)-ffs even the custom map SHIGO ISLANDS is of dubious compatibility with it since getting coal (oil replacement) out of the caves is gonna be a PITA...and that's not exactly known for being a difficult map, just rather large.

Just making FLAK (iron) armor in survival plus is a PITA, nevermind the steel/riot bit (if they've actually implemented that since I last played it...i'm not going back tyvm)

I can scarcely imagine trying to do one of the crazier maps like extinction or abberation with survival plus.
