Trouble with Abberation

So I've got no idea what I'm doing, lol.
I clearly need a hazard suit, but for that I need congealed gas, and for that I need red gems. red gems only spawn in the souther half of the map (literally not one node in the north, which I'm noticing is a pretty consistent problem with all resources).
So I go out to find one of these nodes, just to bring them back to make a hazard suit, so I can actually go places. Not only can I not find anything, but as I'm looking random places give radiation sickness, which I need a hazard suit to avoid!

There's also no real metal nodes anywhere in the north either, which greatly adds to the problem. It's like I'm supposed to get specific resources, but to get them they presuppose I already have access to them. What's the basic idea of progression for this map? Because I'm definitely missing something.

Earthquakes and stealing from the rats can get you red gems.

Man i have 2600h in ARK, i trying this last week understand Aberation but i cant to, all resorce miss or are in radiation zone, when u go there like me with Spino lvl 257, 450 dmg HP 7000 u cant do noething, enemys are so stronge, building some Stone Base Developer decided mybe, ok i will go on the Ragnarok, in 1h craft 50 C4 and raid every 1 on the aberation map. I think they kidding people, this game this map gona close in next 6 monts because is maked only for megatribes witch get much more resorce, but also they playing in mas no like we solo or in 2-3 guys.

This map is not for the new player, its for veteran players looking for new challenges. It is supposed to be difficult and awkward.

I've got over 1k hours playing Ark, so I'm not really a new player. Just not really understanding the progression. I'm literally sitting here with a smithy and metal tools, and a bunch of spinos at my disposal, not knowing how I actually start getting gas, hazard suit, oil, or good amounts of metal, because areas of the map are closed off to me. Again, just wondering how progression works here.

the north part, or "green part" of the map is the beginner zone.
there is metall there but hard to find. just take a look at the resource map for aberration.

you can get red gems from rats, quakes in the blue zone and in the border zone between blue and red zone.

also the gas bubbles spawn in a low number near the gas geyser when they erupt. just collect them.

but if this is already to difficult for you, then have fun going down to fetch a rock drake egg^^

... did not realize this... haha. This will probably save me. I've found no red rocks during any earthquakes so far, and I'm about day 18 or so.
And yeah, I've been using the resource map. There's pretty much no metal, or anything else, in the green area. But yeah, the gas buddles spawning by the geyser will save me I think.

Also, I've stolen quite a bunch of wyvern eggs before and raised them up solo on a x1 server, so I look forward to a new challenge there :D

Almost every single rock in the blue zone is a metal node. Just get a light pet and you'll have metal for years.

Welcome to ark! With only 1k hours youve graduated from noob to a beginner! :D
